Unlike Jarvis Jones, I believe Bud has the traits to be a good player, but the production isn't there. I think he nneds to take more of a wide nine stance where he can go either way on the Tackle. With his usual stance and Technique he ends up on the Jarvis Jones great circle route and just doesn't get home.

No.

I think Bud will have a solid season, just not a probowl type of season. He will have a good not great year. Ending as not a star, but not a bust either. Not the year some would dream up. If the Steelers decide to resign him to a good not great contract matching that worth. I am fine with it.

I've been hoping for Bud to break out for I don't know how many years it is now, but I just don't see it happening either. Really hope I'm wrong.

i don't see it. would've happened by now.

I've always felt kungfu and aikido would translate better to hand fighting along the lines on both sides of the ball. I'd figure wrestling and judo could come in handy as well.

Bud is gonna sack Marsha twice in game 1---end up with 10 sacks overall. And he'll get two more in the first week of February...

I'm hoping, but after years of watching him fly on by the qb I'd be highly doubtful. Maybe if the qb is flushed right into him from pressure on the other side. Now that seems more likely.

Carlton Haselrig was the name that comes to mind who used his wrestling skills to translate over to being a pretty good Olineman. And he was a conversion project as he started out on defense.

If he believes boxing will improve his game I'm all for it, especially if it eliminates his rainbow rush.

It is getting harder to believe he's a late bloomer though.

Grenades and poison darts.............

Don't sell BOXING short as its a tougher sport than any of these you've mentioned. The conditioning of a true boxer is probably one of the best / hardest tests there is. I'm NOT knocking anything you have said but Boxing is one of the OLDESt forms of fighting / self defense ever. It pre-dates most / all martial arts and actually most martial arts are based of of boxing. Don't watch the "Rocky" movies and think that is boxing because it is NOT. Hand speed / strength / endurance are all a part of it so I see it as a great benefit for BUD. One thing though,.............. I'm all for what eve will help Dupree become the best he will be.

You can be a great athlete and a not so good football player. Hopefully something translates to the field, but i think it's more an instinctual thing he does not have

He needs to be taking an uber to the airport.

And then we would be stuck with who starting?

I get he hasn't achieved the desired, but I am not sure at the moment there is an upgrade on the roster.

Bud gets pressure on the QB and gets close a lot. And, he is decent in coverage when he is not covering a teams top WR. That is why the Steelers actually like him. He just doesn't finish and actually get the sack. If he ever figures that out, he can easily put up 10 sacks a year. Let's hope he does finally learn how to finish.

10 sacks, Know I am not totally BUD DUPREE but all players deserve justification. I think he had 5.5 sacks last season. He also had a holding call that resulted in a SAFTY (better than a sack). He also had I think is was 4 or five holdings that easily could have resulted in a sack, after all that is why the OFEENSIVE guy held because he knew that he was beat. So there is your 8-11 sacks. Bud is playing better than MOST here think but NOT superstar statis or deserving of that. Most see him running by the B a few times and think that is his entire game, it's not. Oh and one more thing, isn't a holding call 10 yards and an average sack is ab out 8, hmmmmmmm .

While i am not going to say that boxing is not a tough sport, i think i will disagree that it is tougher than the others.

TaeKwonDo has all of those features AND you have to be able to use your feet for offense and defense. However, i don't know of any martial arts bouts that go 12 rounds. I don't watch them, though.

I know from experience, those 2 minutes are looooong ******* minutes.

I assume the other martial arts do, too, but i have only practiced 2.

I think it was Chan Gailey who had a TaeKwonDo guy in working with our OL at one point.

Was it Gildong with the karate chop from behind that caused a few fumbles? My guess is that he was striking at that spot on the forearm that makes your arm temporarily ******.

100% no. The space between his ears doesn't allow this to happen.

I want Bud to become a complete stud more than anybody. But to my "crappy statistician" eyes, he played on one side, Watt beat him in sacks, forced fumbles and ints. he played on the other side, Watt beat him in sacks, forced fumbles and ints.

Part of me thinks he maaaaay not be quite as good as T.J.
