The Steelers have started the clock on third round Cam Sutton. Sutton was placed on the injured reserve after making the 53 man roster prior to week 1. That allowed the Steelers to have the opportunity to bring back Sutton after 8 weeks. Sutton will have 21 days from today to be activated to the […]

I would bring him back. Then use him on ST's and see where he is at as far as coverage responsibilities.....

If made active who do we cut.. i hope not Brian Allen

If they dont activate him can they keep him on injured reserve

Or i could of opened the full article smh

Man our return game ******* sucks. We should activate him as a returner and ST player so he can get some action this season.

Forgot he returns kicks. Yes good idea

he'd be a ST ace and a 5th CB right off the bat, he can play slot or outside and has a knack for disrupting passes. Gay, Golden, Sensabaugh would make sense before Allen

You only bring him back if you are going to put Allen on the PS or get rid of Gay. Those are the only spots he could possibly take right now.

Gay is playing about 30% of our defensive snaps for the year. Sensabaugh has played 0% of the defensive snaps. Allen also has only got a hat 3 times this season. If he is activated Sensabaugh makes the most sense because he's going to take someone's hat and it isn't Allen's.

We put this guy back as a returner and hope he helps our return game. I don't expect him to play any defense on the year unless he shows in practice he is better than what is in front of him.

My first reaction was to cut GAY,..... but when you display factual stuff like this its hard to argue Sensabaugh is probably the right choice.

That was my first reaction too but with Gay playing situational football he's not as big of a liability as he was last year. Think about this, without Haden our secondary was going to be ****** and that's why we loaded up with more DBs in the draft and brought Sensabaugh in off the scrap heap. Now that we have Gay playing in specific situations it works best for the defense. You'd rather have Gay out there than a rookie who spent the last 8 weeks on IR.

Kick returns are our absolute largest weakness as a football team. I can't think of any other phase of the game where our team isn't solid. Sutton taking AB off the field on punt returns lessens AB's exposure to big hits (injuries) and gets Watson off the field on KRs. We had enough of that with Toussaint sucking on KRs for a couple seasons.

So Gay is playing roughly 30% of defensive snaps, Sensabaugh 0% and Allen has got a hat in 3 games. We could IR Allen but then Sutton still needs to take someone's hat, that's gonna be Sensabaugh unless they reduce the number of roster players at another position for this kid.

Gay is playing well this year. He is way better suited to be a nickle/slot corner and it's showing.

Agree. I don't want some rookie out there in the playoffs. Gay can actually make an occasional big play, and is rarely going to hurt us by doing something stupid.

I understand watt you are saying but there will be one ROOKIE out there like it or watt.

Brian Allen will not leave the roster, his age, size, and speed will immediately be picked up by another team.

Sensabaugh will not, and he can sit, unemployed, until we get an injury and resign him.

You dont have to release the same position player, as one that is returning to the roster men.

I read they’d likely cut Allen to make room for Sutton but I hope they don’t. I personally cut Moats or IR Sutton. I like what I saw in Allen and feel we have plenty of OLB and if anything this helps Debo get on the field.

I haven't seen anything suggesting that.

“What remains to be seen is whether or not there is role for him, and who he might replace on the roster—Allen is a likely candidate.”

It makes sense. Gay has been playing well enough to keep his roster spot. Sensabough is a vet. Allen has PS eligibility and isn’t likely to see a hat soon. I just like the little I’ve seen of him.

Those writers are fans like us. They do have some good viewpoints. But they don't know who would get the axe anymore than you or I.

Steelers thought enough of Allen to keep him off the PS and protected.

I get that people view him as the low man on the totem, but there is other players that are low on the totem in regards to other positions. It doesn't necessarily have to be a subtraction at the same position.

Exactly, I'll throw a name out there. Dan McCullers, what the hell has he done.
