Cam, rising or falling………………..HOF ?

Cam’s HOF comp is Andy Dalton imho
Good, but disappears when it matters
If Cam is in on his body of work already I’d be shocked, but heck it is participation trophy generation nowadays

Is Andy Dalton a HOFer? Maybe I have too high of standards
Andy Dalton was a qb and I don't think anywhere near Cam Heyward. Cam Heyward has been top three at position for a decade. I get what you are saying about big moments but I don't think anyone is looking that deep. Near 100 sacks interior DL. In.

I'm a little surprised regarding posters assessment of Cam getting in or not. I think the question was does he have enough to get in, not do you think he should get in based upon your personal feelings. His contract situation 5 years after his retirement will have zero effect on whether he gets in and frankly if you can get paid more why not try. The worst answer you can get is no. With the way the NFL cuts players after injuries I'd say go for everything you can. You only play for so long. In regard to whether he gets voted or not, apparently there is only one interior defensive lineman with 5 all pro selections not in the hall of fame and that's Kevin Williams and he had 63 sacks. Total stats like sacks are very relevant and Cams numbers are good, not amazing, but very solid but what the committee looks at more than anything is where we're you ranked at your position in your era and the all pros (because pro bowls are a joke now) are the cleanest way to judge a players ranking at his position. When you are all pro 4 times first and 2 times 2nd that says a tremendous amount about your chances. Over a nice clean 100 number and he's probably a lock. I'd guess he's a finalist first year, and gets in 2nd or 3rd at the latest. Personal feelings do matter unfortunately (Terrell Owen's for instance which was a joke) and so I think the Walter Payton award will sway some voters to elect him sooner rather than later. Lastly, even though everyone and their brother has a podcast these days, he does have a media platform that may help him. Dismiss it or not he's part of the media community and it's the media that votes him in.......how he handles and leverages that platform post retirement could influence how quickly he gets in but if I were him I'd network my butt off post retirement leveraging that platform getting cute with as many in that voting community as possible. That's my take

Only two interior DL have 100 or more sacks in the history of the NFL. John Randle and Aaron Donald. Cam has 92. Case ****** closed. Andy Dalton. C'mon!!

I didn't look up the 100 sack number if it's only 2 and only 1 5 time all pro guy hasn't made it in then he's a lock. Question is, is he first timer. I guess a lot will have to do with what players retire the year he does and also what the backlog is like at the time but I think he's a finalist first year.......gets in 2nd or 3rd. I don't think he waits that long

Hello Cam!

Top 3?....maybe top dog at losing in the playoffs.. 🤔

Cam all but has 100 sacks. Probably the BESTEST EVER at knocking down passes(I AM TOLD!!!). Unfortunately he was never a great team leader in the locker room. Unfortunately he never really lifted his team in the playoffs. Meh. I hope he gets into the HOF. Would be another Steeler in the HOF I guess. I think Harrison should be in before Cam though. Just my opinion. Same with Watt. Harrison>Watt

Heyward was great for 5 mins 10 years ago. Now he’s just old and crying about his contract every other year. Wish the organization would stop enabling this crybaby “what did you do for me yesterday” mentality.

He blocked a pass in week......14?

Harrison should be in IMHO, and so should Heyward. I've read you posters for probably ten plus years (recently decided to chime in). Some of you are quite knowledgeable, some of you have funny quips, some are enjoyable to read, but some of you are dumb as a block.......emotional, reactive, never satisfied.......wait, wait is my wife on here?

Cam isn’t nearly as bad a player as some make him out to be.

He is clearly not as good a player as some make him out be, either.

Can was harbored to take on a leadership role, one he clearly was not fully capable of.

That role was more due to the fact that the real leaders were retiring / leaving, Cam became through default.

HOF, yes eventually he will make it, but no bitching when it’s his 2nd / 3rd / or 4th round voting.

There is a huge “back-up NFL-wide” causing bubble candidates to have to wait, combine that in with the entire WING of already Steelers HOF entrants.

You are right timing of other players is pivotal in when he gets in but in regard to whether he gets in or not, he's not in a glamour position like EDGE, or RB, or WR or QB so it's naturally harder and yeah clearly he's not Aaron Donald but then again who.really is? If you had an all.time D line he's probably on it. That said I go back to the All Pros and the sacks but especially the All Pros......it's a massive factor when HOF voters vote. They literally have said 4x he's the best at what he does and 2x he's the second best at what he does.......that's six years of dominance........and before anyone says what dominance is, to me dominance is when you are the very best at what you do and that's what ALL PRO says. Whether or not he was worthy of those accolades isn't something I'll debate, but from a HOF standpoint, the voters said he was the best at what he did or close to it six years and pretty darn good a bunch of other years......that's HOF worthy in the voting minds

And I'd be amused BTW if we started a thread on AB being HOF worthy. That would be more entertaining. I find it amazing that Steeler fans think Ward was better ......like anyone who thinks Ward was better should go see a brain surgeon. AB was hands down the best receiver that ever wore the black and gold and it ain't close. That said, he has absolutely destroyed so much of his on field good will off the field he's probably gonna wait a long long time. Dude SHOULD be a first ballot HOFer but that ain't happening. Frank Gore who was above average at his position will get in before one of the best receivers to ever play the game. Sadly the self imposed demolition of AB is still going on and my guess is he ends up.in jail, or homeless, or commits suicide or gets shot or something. Brilliance on the field, disaster off. He's just like some of the greatest artists in history.......brilliant onnthe canvas, but take the brush away and theybsre timebombs. That's what AB was.......an artist on the field and a time bomb off. Boy I loved watching him play

It's hard to assign W/L to individual DL for playoff games, period.
When the defense has stunk in basically every one of those games, yes, the defensive captain will be associated with playoff failures.
