Cam Heyward wants a new deal

I love Cam and everything he's meant to the Steelers, but c'mon, man... he's age 36. He was drafted in 2011 (the year the iPhone 4s came out; the year Netflix shifted from DVD rentals to streaming... need I go on?).

Wait ... Netflix doesn't mail out DVD movie rentals any more? Damn, I just thought my orders were slow in being processed.

no way you redo a three year deal with two years left on it. all we need is another distraction. these players need to quit listening to to how great they are and how much more they are worth.

The owners should include in the next CBA that no contract renegotiations can take place until 1 year left on the current deal.

For every guy who outperforms his existing contract and wants more money, there is one or more who underperform their current contract but still get the benefit of the contract. It's a one-way street. I'm not feeling sorry for billionaire owners but this crap has to end.

This team has largely set its finances for this season which is what, 3 weeks away? Kind of late in the process to decide you want a new deal. Sounds like Cam has a little "TJ Envy" going on this week.

Boz should make QB money he has scored more points than any QB on our team since Ben.
Heyward signed his contract last year and it was a fair deal for a player his age. Now Boswell, I know it's the same situation, but give him an extra million and he's the 2nd highest paid kicker in the league. It would set a bad precedent, but is barely a drop in the bucket compared to what Cam is making/asking.

The Steelers aren’t going to fall for this, they start renegotiating two years out and the next guy will want a new contract three years out. This ain’t happening and if Capt. Cam wants to sit out and get nothing, that’s what will happen but I don’t believe he will. He’ll never recoup that lost cash at his age.

Phuq Cam, play out your contract or sit and get nothing. He has ZERO bargaining leverage here at his age. Sit out those two years and just try to recoup that money at 38. 🤣🤣😄🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Edit- I didn’t see the post above that said the same thing,

On Cam I would take it as an opportunity to lower the cap hit. Give him a small raise extension and a big chunk allocated to winning playoff games. (Incentives)

1 win you get said amount, 2, and so forth.

Steelers in general manage the cap well. Just do what they do best

manage it.

I wouldn't even entertain Cam's desire to rework his deal. His choice if he wants to walk away from the game or not. Just tell his agent to tell Cam show or don't. His choice but he won't be getting a penny more.

Perhaps we are not aware of the conditions surrounding his deal last year. Maybe Cam was led to believe that a redo was possible if he outperformed stated expectations?

It's disappointing to hear of these "hold-ins", for sure, but I think we are making conclusions about a player without full information.

Since it's all about being a mercenary nowadays, the fans should get to renegotiate their ticket prices every year.

They definitely should get backpay for all playoff games the last 10 years.

That Christmas home game last year should be a 100% full refund, plus 50% for wasting our ******* time and giving us a ****** Christmas memory.
