Calvin Johnson to Retire?

Wow. Poor guy is taking a beating on his body with nothing to show for it.

Well he made his money. If he wants to play cheap and be a part of the greatest WR corps ever assembled. I'd put him and Bryant on the outside and AB in the slot where he could use the entire field.

Might help keep Brown if he retires. Would lower the WR Franchise Tag salary.

I doubt it. He just wants out Detriot.

Agree. But I think he is too loyal to the city to say it. Kinda reminds me of andre Johnson. Dude was a easy for years. Gave up his career for the loot for sure but the continual bad teams has to be draining.

Players say lots of things after the last game. $24M cap hit next year - they have to do something with him.

Johnson's cap hit in 2016 is currently scheduled to be $24 million. Despite clearing his $15.95 million base salary with a decision to retire, the Lions are still responsible for $12.9 million in dead money attached to the signing, option and restructure bonuses.

A simple restructure gets him down to about 13 million next season. They wouldn't be likely to cut him or trade him at this point I would imagine.

I wouldn't want to play in Detroit either... its the most run down city in the US right now... it is depressing to be there... The good people are fleeing en mass
