Tell me the last splash plays made by our first round draft picks.

Will have to stop you at Heyward.

Tell me when they bring 8 men up to the line and bring at least six. Dupree pretty much sucks. Burns really does. Heyward I believe is a victim of the coaching. He is a good player with heart. Edmunds is a young player.

Edmunds has had plenty of minutes now that young isn't an excuse to play as badly as he is. Just another terrible pick for Tomlin, was a huge reach and it shows on the field.
Sean Davis, Burnett, or Edmunds wouldn't see the field for any average decent in the league. Cam Heyward probably would be 3rd string behind Travis Kersche on those great defensive teams.

No probs with Heyward. Edmunds quite honestly shouldn't be playing yet. Dupree at least had a sack and pressures.not a lot admittedly but something. burns? yeah I got nothing

Dupree had a sack today, Heyward is a very good player.

Sean Davis sucks. Burnett was a carton of milk past it’s expiration that the Steelers took a chance on.

I remember Shazier and even Polamalu looking pretty bad to start the career. I'm not saying Edmunds will be a star but c'mon.

To the ORIGINAL POSTER>>>>>>>>>>>>>. Do you watch the game??? Heyward is doubled a lot. I mean a lot. So there is that.

Dupree runs himself right out of 75 percent of the plays. One sack does not make him an average to good player. He's below average.

Who is our LB's coach and why does this problem seem to exist continually????

I guarantee they have him working on different counter moves and ****.. they can't do it for him on the field.

you would think a good coach would have helped him figure this out

Shazier and Polamalu were clear cut first round draft picks and elite athletes in their draft classes. No one had Edmunds pegged in the first round. I think he has the chance to be a solid player, but not the same type of playmaker that the other two were.

I dont expect him to either but I'm not going to say the book is written on him either. Both those guys didn't look great in their first year. After Haden and Hilton who is playing better than Edmund's in the secondary?

Dupree is complete ******* garbage! The guy has ZERO pass rushing skills.....As big of a BUST as Uncle Jarvis.....hasn't improved at OLB in 4 seasons. IMO this also reflects on our OLB Coach Joey Porter. He's gotta go also

Burns certainly has been a disappointment....now in his 3rd year the kid can't even crack the starting lineup. The future of Burns is looking very bleak if he can't beat out a journeyman CB like Cody Sensebaugh. Another 1st Round Bust.

Cam Heyward - Can't blame Heyward......Steelers Defense use to rush 3 DL.....now many times in only 2 DL. Heyward is a man among men in the NFL but the Defensive scheme many times doesn't benefit him. Steelers also need another STUD DL.....ala Casey Hampton to compliment Tuitt & Heyward.

Terrell Edmunds - Can't evaluate this kid yet.....I'm hard on him but he's still learning the NFL game. I do know our Defensive Coordinator and Tomlin also aren't helping as our entire Defensive Scheme is in shambles.....so I give Edmunds a pass for now.

There are other players on Defense who are not helping much either.....if you want to finger point....look no further than Jon Bostic, Morgan Burnett, Sean Davis, LJ Fort. These guys are not starting material on most NFL rosters. I'm still amazed that we've seen the past 3 opponents....Broncos, Chargers, & Raiders all exploit the Steelers Defense by lining up their #1 WR in the Slot......and the Steelers Head Coach and Defensive Coordinators response to teams exploiting it is that we don't have the right personnel to defend against it so we have to use a LB'er to cover the slot guy. Hearing a statement like that from our Head Coach makes me feel like they have no answers but they haven't even tried to change up the Defense so they don't have a LB'er on the slot guy. INCREDIBLE!

I would play a form of a 3-3-5 as our base. With Edmunds as a 3rd S / 2nd ILB / Rover. The problem is that we do not have the talent in the D backfield to pull it off.

Edmonds is having a good rookie season. Safety is a tough position to learn. His stats are very similar to 11th overall pick Minkah Fitzpatrick.

Yep that's what happens when your head coach is in love with a 2 Dlinemen set, it's easy to double him in that formation

But but but we won the bidding war and signed the slow inept Vince Williams to a 4 year 26 million dollar extension. LMFAO, we knew ILB was a huge weakness and we signed the main culprit to a huge deal when no other team would want his slow *** as a starter, typical Tomlin.

Wrap that up with a bow on top

One of the knocks on Bud was lack of technique, and his wonderlic score which was very low. I think Bud pulled a 13, which essentially means janitors are much brighter. He either doesn't know how to read or has cognitive learning issues.

Dupree remains a marvelous athlete, who's somewhat prone to injury. He is what he is at this point. A bit weak vs the run, a better than average pass rusher. Not exactly a bust, but hardly what we hoped for.

I don't think Burns recovers. Bad 1st round pick. ** Look at me ** I told you so and wanted the trade down viewing X Howard as the better player.

Heyward is very good. Edmunds okay for a rookie.

The defense NEEDS to replace Davis, Williams and Bostic. An upgrade at corner would be nice too.

Early mock draft with nameless players

1 ) A three down ILB who can cover, play the run, and has speed. Huge need.
2 ) A play making free safety. Huge need.
3 ) A Corner back with upside.

Take Dupree... the player he is, the player he isn’t, and the player he could be... the coaches dilemma. What to do with a player. Butler keeps taking players like Dupree and trying to do things with them they can’t do so the player never reaches their potential. Dupree should be doing one thing and one thing only , that is, rushing the qb. Nothing else... he will never be jack ham. More like bob turkey if you keep trying to make him a linebacker. you don’t get to the nfl and then learn the game.. it’s too late by then. I’ve watched wayyy to much film of Dupree running around like a chicken with his head cut off when he is really only capable of blitzing the qb. At 6-4 270 he’s a kick *** blitzer... when he actually blitzes which isn’t very often... butler needs to be fired he’s a position coach no more than that. He has everyone one on defense doing what they are not capible of: defensive ends playing tackles, linebackers going from playing defensive ends to covering slot receivers! Safeties playing man, slot dbs covering tight ends, everyone out of position! I seriously doubt if lambert could have done what butler is asking and he was Superman. And all this with butler stating “that’s not our complete defensive package we’ve had to dumb it down because the young players” really? It’s a horrible defense and he’s a horrible coordinator... Rooney’s need to wake the hell up!
