Keeping Tomlin around is not optimal for that. I think it needs to be a house cleaning for that to really occur. But that aside what do they do now???
In my opinion, the coach and the GM has to get a group of leadership, younger and older together, take some time to roll the tape backwards and see where things should have been different and then create some hard fast rules together. No more of this let them Express themselves bullshit. You fall out of team line as decided by the leadership group your *** is taxed. And if it's bad enough it will be a public deal and you will be sat.
None of us is in their locker room so I don't necessarily know who should be on it. Some guys that come to mind at least by their public appearances: Heyward, Haden, Pouncey, Al V, (Young) Juju, Watt, Connor.
Now obviously the elephant in the room is Ben. Clearly the organization believes he is the leader, but the room has to too. So there might have to be a sit down with him. Certainly, the ****** radio show bullshit needs to stop. Just as any social media crap. Nothing that could possibly be perceived as detrimental to the team. If there is a beef between guys, the leadership group steps in.
And though I don't really give a **** if Ben went to ABs crib or not, the team needs to bond TOGETHER. The oline was having group catered steak nights at Pouncey's place. Well what is the most solid group on this team? You don't have to be best friends but you cannot be a group of individuals with your own agendas either.

The vultures are circling the carcass. No question. I really don't get that one. Manny Sanders wasn't Antonio Brown. Antonio Brown was a bonafide superstar in the making. And he became one. Manny Sanders is a good number two. That is called negotiation. And sometimes **** gets said. I don't know where everyone else works, but I know tough things get said to people all the time. That was a hard truth to Sanders, but it was a truth nonetheless.

And the Steelers assessed the situation correctly. No way did Sanders deserve a big contract. If Colbert said those exact words, I'd like to know what exactly came out of Sanders/his agent's mouth because I don't think it was that simple. This guy knows his career is nearing the end and is doing his best to make a splash so he can get a job in the media.
 
Maybe Sanders would have been offered a better deal if he could hold onto the damn ball. I’ll never forget watching him switch hands and the ball bouncing away and him running after it like a little kid chasing a toy.
 
Outside of individual drama, this team did its thing. We had troubles on the field with Artie Burnt regressing, the defense couldn't adjust with personnel lacking. The offense struggled when Conner went down and became mostly one dimensional. We need to be able to win any way we can on Sunday's. If the team can adjust and add the right pieces for next year we will be fine. Losing AB is a massive loss. There won't be an immediate replacement for what he offered. We already replaced Bell with Conner. We need to focus on the defense (LB, LB, LB) and get ourselves a WR or two plus a new backup TE.
 
When a team is 0made up solely of great players who can win individual matchups consistently they will win games. No question. Cohesion only goes so far. You have to have better players. However, when the other team can match your talent to some degree then it comes down to who plays as a team better. Cases in point the Bengals of the mid to late 2000s, and the Steelers of the last 4 years.
 
The culture has been changed by one individual whose name is Tomlin. Did anyone see any of the treatment of Brown before Brown started running his lips. All goes back to Tomlin, he has got rid of coaches that were having better respect than himself so he got rid of them. He has no name coaches left on the team. He has changed it all and we will still get the same speeches pre and post game and we will still see the same effort each week. Sanders comment are non events, he was not some great receiver he dropped more than he caught, he was just self-important. Tomlin is and will continue to be coach that gets a lot of love from the weekend reports than come to Pittsburgh for one game and leave and worry about the next gig.
 
My prediction and I will get crucified for it:
Tomlin toughens up and sets some new rules. Ben is pissed and driven as hell this year. The team circles the wagons and unity brings out the best in them and they win the division and possibly win it all. Tomlin gets an extension and yinzers can’t decide whether to celebrate or jump off bridges.

Win the SB and my opinion changes, I would think many other would follow suit..So nothing but celebrating if that came to pass for me.
 
I think Tomlin is tied to Ben. You don't want to start over with Ben who only has a few years left. When Ben does finally hangs up his cleats it will be judgement day for Tomlin. What we do from now to then will determine Tomlin's fate.

Where people go with the thread is up to them. It's called discussion. The start of thread was yeah to fix the culture of the team they should have got a fresh set of eyes. Essentially, it's like that in any business. However, clearly they are not going to do that this season. So, what now. This is what I think needs to happen in the immediate future to try to stop the bleeding, and move the trajectory back up.

Tomlin gets no extension, no nuthin', until or unless he at least gets to a Super Bowl. Not necessarily win, but get there. If that doesn't happen then let his contract expire and he can walk.

I agree. Their recent MO has been to allow contracts to expire and let the coach walk. Not like I want this team to stink or implode, but its difficult for me to envision this team getting where I want it with him running the show. BUT I have to hope they do.
 
It all started in 2007 the beginning of the culture change. Sure they won a SB but with a loaded team with excellent coordinators. He changed the culture of this team giving these guys entirely too much freedom letting them police themselves. Creating a monster in Brown, misleading players like Blunt and Harrison, totally embarrassing the team by stepping on the field at Baltimore, keeping Ben on the sidelines in Oakland last season when Ben had said he was good to go. The list goes on and on. I’ve said in the past they will never win with him.

And as much as I hate to say, don’t be surprised to see Rooney extend the idiot this summer. Rooney is another story. He totally got duped by Brown but oh yeah, takes a photo with him. Made him and the organization look weak.

Sanders was another young money, diva,douchebag back at the start of all this ****. Part of a culture that eventually wrecked the team. F him. Colbert is universally regarded as one of the top GM"s in football.

I don't buy that narrative. He took a picture with him because he knew no other teams wanted a 31-year-old nut case. The guy was an incoherent, unglued mess prior to that photo. Rooney was just trying to show that, "see, he can sit and be normal, take him!" The reality is that the market was tiny for a wrong side of 30 whacko who was already under contract yet wanted even more money. After he **** on Buffalo, they were lucky the Raiders were still dumb enough to put up with him. I was seriously worried they would have to cut him and get nothing at all.
