I thought the same thing, you never really hear players having MCL anymore. everything ACL and out for the season. let's all hope the MRI comes out with just an MCL. and just miss the rest of the regular season.

Wake is more de than lb. If they sign anyone, it would be for depth behind Highsmith. Matthew's has played in a similar 3-4, would all depend on what he's been doing lately.

it's going to make us thinner at the OLB spot....hopefully this is our last big injury
So like i said There are some options at edge rusher out there... some younger unproven guys, and some older guys who are looking for the right fit
Suggs the thug is a future HOFr who still can rush the passer at 38... he won his second super bowl last year then opted not to sign this season but not tetire either
There was speculation he was just holding out till closer to the playoffs to jump on a contender again
He has that dirty ratbird stench on him, but you could always pour some bleach on him to get it off....
Cameron wake was on the titans last season and then cut this season... he is an ex penn stater who is 38, still able to play at a high level ( won dpow lat year before his hamstring injury) can play 3/4 olb or 4/3 de at pro bowl levels, expressed interest in playing this season, and is chasing a ring
Claw Matthew is 34 and the only reason he isn’t on a roster is he got cut for cap reasons but has a two million guaranteed income deal that offsets with any current contract he signs... his contract last year paid him 4.5 million a season, he had 8 sacks in 13 games played... due to the nature of this season nobody wanted to dump big money on anyone like Matthews this year... and he didn’t want to play for free for anything less than 2 million dollars... I don’t know if the chance to win a super bowl matters to him or not... but he is still out there... and i don't know how playoff money affects his deal...

The Steelers have been impressed enough with Highsmith that they weren't going to pursue signing Dupree in the off-season. So now he's getting his chance early.
I mean if his wrist isn’t as ****** as it was last year, great... but last i heard he was in for his fourth surgery on it and I haven’t heard anyone say he has gotten a tryout lately.... so id be leery at best
Gutted for Bud. He was having a great year out there and showed he was worthy of that tag. Had our offense not been so ****** with all the drops that game is a blowout and Bud isn't on the field in that scenario.
No doubt, but that doesn’t change that we are now down one olb rusher. We need someone to fill that spot, even if it is a backup

Also of note, if Bud takes a smaller contract due to this injury it will hurt our comp draft pick in 22'. He was set to get paid and now this may take some money out of his pocket and give us a lesser draft pick in 22'.

I'd at least bring Matthews in not necessarily to sign, but to have waiting in the wings. The Steelers like to rotate their OLBs so adding another piece to keep a four-man rotation going would not be out of the question.
