At the NFL Scouting Combine last week, Cleveland Browns general manager John Dorsey said the team was still deliberating what to do with Jamie Collins.

It appears to the team arrived at a decision.

On Wednesday, the Browns announced that they have released the veteran linebacker after two-plus seasons with the team. Collins' release hardly comes as a surprise, with the 29-year-old due $10.5 million in salary in 2019.

They are falling like rocks!

Is this somebody we shouyld look at??? or do we have two already???

Salute the the nation

We could get Collins and Houston for the 2019 season by using the 9m in cap space(both could easily have 2019 hits around 4.5m on a 3 year deal) we are lighting on fire for Bud.

Collins is an All Pro talent for 10M whereas we're about to pay Dupree 9M+ for 0 production.

Last time Collins was “all pro” was in 2015 when he played for the Cheats. He had a lot of combined tackles but only 4 sacks last year. He’s about to turn 30. Even Bud had 5.5 last year. Plus, he doesn’t play ILB. Where’s the upside? I don’t see it.

We should target CJ Mosley from the Rats if we’re going to grab a veteran.

Agreed. If we are signing a free agent it better be in our one glaring need first and that’s ILB. Mosley is not Shazier but he’s serviceable and still young.

I liked Collins years ago. but I'm not quite sure how lighting another 5-6 M on fire will help put out the 9M Dupree fire.

Finding a way to spend 15M at a position to not improve seems a bit ridiculous...should tear that **** shack down to the foundation (Watt) and do a complete rebuild with our OLB funds.

I don't want to keep Dupree around, I sure as hell don't want to bring a an older version of him in.

Jamie Collins would play ILB in our defense. He is not an edge rusher--he played ILB in NE's 3-4 looks and SLB in the 4-3.
