Browns Lose HC Kevin Stefanski, G Joel Bitonio to COVID

Over on the Browns boards a member or two was trying to blame this on us... like they weren’t already in a full blown outbreak before they even played us... we had one case from the holidays... they have virtually two weeks of positives now... im pretty sure the blame is their own...

**** the crybabies. it is ALWAYS someone else's fault

Well he should be under quarantine so not supposed to go anywhere. Coordinators can coach from the booth so not sure why a HC couldnt. As for Zoom I can see why that would not be allowed. You could listen to / watch the broadcast which could be a big advantage. Im sure they could make a medical isolation booth / tent for him, but the optics of that would look terrible as he would have to break quarantine to get to / into the stadium

I didn’t know the rule was “be in the stadium” -which makes sense and answers why he couldn’t coach via zoom. Thanks for response on this question from each of you, but I still want to know if a head coach currently, any of them, are they allowed to be in the booth? I know coordinators are, but could a head coach?

Yep, HC can be in the booth for medical reasons. (Payton?) was given opportunity to do so (broke his leg during a game after a player was tackled into him on the sidelines). He declined and was on crutches during the game. Not the smartest thing I saw during a football game.

I will soon be 70 and have been a life long Stillers fan. I remember when Jim Brown of Cleveland would single handedly destroy the old Steelers so one would expect me to say HAH HAH Cleveland your Coach has to stay away BUT that just isn't fair.

RG has bent over backwards for the Ravens to accomodate them.

Find a booth on the Cleveland sideline of Heinz Field (should be easy because of the no fan rule), seal it off and put Coach Stefanski in it with his NFL approved headset so he can watch the game and help coach.

For goodness sakes, he's a class guy who kept the Browns together and got them into the playoffs.

Mark my word, if we win it will always carry an asterisk next to it because the Browns were down to an ASST Assst coach due to Covid 19.

What unfair advantage could he have sitting up there?

Time to show class and make the request to the NFL.

uh no thanks. and you can take the asterisk and shove it up your soon to be-70 yrs old ***.

only kidding on that last part. kinda.

Well, if the Browns are only able to bring an assistant coach, the Steelers might be just about even on the coaching side...

The problem is bringing someone who is Covid positive and may actually be very sick by Sunday, into a stadium to spread this even further.

I understand your logic, Skline; but all 3 of our losses should have *'s by them because of COVID-19. Seriously, 3 games in 12 days w/ one actual practice???

The browns lost their safety to covid today... i think he was on the contract list but he came down with it if I understood correctly...

Good point Cope.

I haven't heard how his condition is.

bermudasteel, no argument from me about your point also.

Had we been playing the Ravens, I bet the game would have been delayed till-----when?

Omar10213245, enjoyed your comment BUT I learned years ago while working in the Steel Mill during college to ALWAYS wear soap on a rope while in the shower room. Nuff said!

It’s funny reading all the talking heads Clickbait, how they all feel that the game should be postponed and a disservice to the Browns to not move the game.

All the signs point to Pittsburgh so the media has to make **** up to level the playing field.

I would think (hope) that the last playoff game (Jax) and earlier game this year vs Balt (where they had have their starters) would be a reminder for the Steelers to remain focused and take nothing for granted.

Hell, not even that far back, how about losing to the damn Bengals!

Apparently, the Browns still aren't allowed in their facility and have had no practices this week. Tomorrow would be their only chance before coming to Pittsburgh.

I take that back. They were just cleared to open their facility so will probably practice later today.

I agree. I’m not feeling all that comfortable. We have a pretty shady track record in games like these. This has upset written all over it. I hope I’m wrong.

****, they lost to a Browns team that had just as many players out as the Steelers did just last week. It's not like the Browns were at full-strength last week.

If they take this game for granted, they will lose. And Tomlin coming out afterward and saying "no excuses" doesn't mean ****, except apparently he doesn't know how to ******* coach.

Hey, hold on there, SBWHCMT has never had a losing season, why he's even 4-4 in first round playoff games.

SBWHCMVLT

ZonaBurgh, you forgot his middle initials.

PS. Coach Mike Tomlin will do fine this Sunday night. The STEELERS will come in to their HOME town stadium and get a victory. Everything will be as it should but I hope it isn't a huge blow out where they expel 2weeks worth of adrenalin as they will need some for round 2.
