By Justin McGonigle www.SteelerNation.com The Browns again were forced to close their facility today. This time because of multiple positive coronavirus tests. The positives were very significant for a franchise preparing for their first playoff game in 18 years. Head Coach Kevin Stefanski headlines the list of positives today, along with starting guard Joel Bitonio. […]

Thanks Justin for the article.

I'm sorry for the china flu pandemic and hope their team gets through it without health complications.

I also hope our guys don't contract anything from them while playing.

all that said

Factory of sadness is a true description and their fans must feel it. Some are very dedicated and I tip my hat to them but they also have some of the dumbest **** bird fans I have ever saw in my life.

Salute the nation

With today's technology he will be involved

Man the thread title makes it sound like they died.

I hope our guys dont get this. Dline guys were within 6 feet for more than 15 minutes with thier oline guy

If they had 5 more positives after the game, we will definitely have more as well. Hopefully, we don't lose anyone big.

I thought I had read previously that you can’t use outside technology on game day. He cannot participate remotely.

Yeah, no electronics on the sidelines, outside their head sets and tablets. I don't know if he can be in contact with coaches upstairs.

Yep. No staff not on the field or in the booth can be in touch with the team. A GM (CLE?) was caught texting from the booth and the GM and team was fined causing a clarification to the rule to be implemented. Any person quarantined are isolated electronically from the team as well.

I think this happened last week during a college game. HC, DC, and OC got COVID and they had a “retired coach - team analyst” call plays for the first time.

Probably will have more positives this week.... the NFL has demonstrated that they really don’t want to move playoffs around based on previous actions

Im only worried about our team having positives from the Browns game... they wont start showing up for a couple days... and it will **** us this round and vs the next round should we win...

There are three to five sideline phones that are old school hardwires... they aren’t supposed to be used to call for competitive reasons outside of calling the box but they are all the time... Al davis called the sidelines regularly

And a person can call the front office and they can rely messages too... again it technically not supposed to happen but it isn’t enforced at all

This is really an unfair advantage for the Steelers.

Sportsmanship says we should also sit an important coach.

Lets give Fichtner the weekend off.

Too bad Tomlin didn’t play all our starters in the covid infested game 16 which was meaningless and which we almost still won, on a weekend that resulted in probably the best AFC matchups possible for Steelers fans *sarcasm*.

Another reason sitting many of our starters made great coaching sense.

Question for the gurus in here: do rules allow head coach to coach from the booth? Is that allowed? I ask because there was much discussion today on NFLRadio about why couldn’t Stafanski coach via Zoom. My thought was it may not be allowed for a coach to get a full field view from the booth, and coaching using the game feed would allow all the analysis and field view and replays within a broadcast.

Well he should be under quarantine so not supposed to go anywhere. Coordinators can coach from the booth so not sure why a HC couldnt. As for Zoom I can see why that would not be allowed. You could listen to / watch the broadcast which could be a big advantage. Im sure they could make a medical isolation booth / tent for him, but the optics of that would look terrible as he would have to break quarantine to get to / into the stadium

Nice ideas, but right now, you have to be in the stadium to coach. This is why coaches in hospitals can't coach by phone/computer/zoom. They'd have to change the rules to allow this in the NFL.

If positive or in the protocol, I don't believe they are allowed at their facility, which would/should include the stadium.

Thanks to your friendly neighborhood cheatriots this wont be allowed.. again teams circumvent it periodically.. tge raiders used to all the time... but the league isn’t going to let someone spy on the sidelines and transmit realtime playcalls back to... oh wait nevermind... they just won’t make it too easy

Over on the Browns boards a member or two was trying to blame this on us... like they weren’t already in a full blown outbreak before they even played us... we had one case from the holidays... they have virtually two weeks of positives now... im pretty sure the blame is their own...
