"Brown-out" Sunday had nothing to do with an injury

If we didn't have to read all the endless back and forth personal attacks resembling an elementary school playground trash talk fight, this thread would only be on Page 4 right now.

I'm biased re Munchak; I got to know him a little from his time in Houston (with the Oilers). It's hard not to like him: He's easy-going and has a very good sense of humor (that is seldom on public display). But it was interesting to hear BR say how much the players like him and would hate to see him go...

Art II has his work cut out for him. Good luck.

Thing is, Munch was already at head coach once and had a slightly sub-.500 record.

Troy got involved with an investment company and has done well after retirement. He's still in Pittsburgh but does philanthropy with his wife who runs his various charities. He's said he was disappointed how his retirement occurred, but has no ill will to the club. He does a lot of family/charity work and he tweets about movies (like Hines Ward) routinely. He's also involved with the new AAF League (as is Hines) and is their Director of Player Relations. Hines Ward is the Director of Football Development.

This I knew. In fact, I can hardly wait for the AAF league to start. I was talking more about his departure from the Steelers. It looked fishy to me. Kind of like Tomlin crossed him off of the list and moved on. A guy like him deserves to be treated like royalty IMO. It just smelled bad.

How do you think he will deal with the elephant in the room tomorrow:
A. Address it briefly and vaguely and shut down all questions saying he has already spoke to it.
B. Say he is not answering questions, it's in house.
C. Take it on head on and admit the team needs to have a culture shift and he bears responsibility for part of that.
I'm going with A. Vague and brief.

How about

D. "We're in the business of winning football games, and obviously missing 84 was a non-issue...we left the stadium with a positive result. Antonio is a competitor, and typically above the line above the neck...he'll understand that this was a teachable moment. When it's time for the next man up, we don't live in our fears...the standard is the standard. Missing the playoffs was disappointing, obviously, but it is what is is...we're not going to make excuses. We're excited to get back to the lab and use this season as a learning experience...now we know about ourselves."

I almost guarantee it will be some variation of that.

The usage of "in house" is a near certainty.

Cowherd just kills me, it hurts to listen to him. He had Mark Schlereth on today and the only reason he has him regularly is because when he says his last name he sounds normal.

Cowherd is an idiot. His argument today was that the Steelers are inconsistent because they rely on so-called ‘star’ players, meanwhile the Patriots are a model of consistency because there are no stars there. What the **** does he consider Brady and Gronk?

The only thing that matters to Cowherd is that you listen to his show and you talk about his show. Not important that anyone agrees with him.

Munchack was 2-1 against Tomlin with less talent to work with.

Those Titan teams were probably sub .500 teams at the time with a decimated offense and defense. Tomlin's Achilles heel...

People were bitching about Troy the year BEFORE he left. "we held on to him too long" "he's lost a step" "often injured"

So they move on from him, and now it's fishy. Time waits for no man, no matter how you have helped the franchise, when your play is no longer a positive in the field the business side of things rears its ugly head.

I loved Troy, but it was past time. If he wants to continue to avoid the steelers, that's his choice. But Tomlin made the correct choice, albeit a year too late Imo

As I recall it was a similar deal like Hines Ward where their contracts were up and the team simply did not offer them another one because they weren't really that good any more. Neither one of them took it very well. Everybody knew Troy and Hines were finished except for Troy and Hines. I remember Troy taking a crap-ton of penalties his last two years and especially his last year because he had to cheat a bit since he'd lost a step.

I don't know how much input Munchak had on the drafting, but the Titans did not draft well during his time as HC either.

No idea on his input, either. My gut would say a 1st time 1st year HC would have some say, but not as much as he would after 3 or 4 years. I was assured by some here that Tomlin chose all of our picks from day 1, though.

His 3 1st round picks were Jake Locker, Kendall Wright and Chance Warmak. I dont think either of them made it past their rookie contracts with TN.

Troy was told by management that if wasn’t going to retire he was going to be released. He wanted to play one more year (2015), he almost took Coach LeBeau’s offer to play in TN but, thought better of it. As others have said, sometimes it’s hard for players to see themselves for what they really are. He had signed a new contract in 2013/2014 I think and he was hurt both years. Team needed active bodies and something had to give.

I mean Tomlin has flat out said he's responsible for the players the Steelers have drafted since he's been here so you don't need to worry about those on the board saying it when it came from the man himself. He also compared Timmons to Derrick Brooks, who was on the team while he was in Tampa, though wrongly pegged him as a right outside linebacker.

I'm gonna play amateur detective. I'm thinking AB missed the walk through for the Saints game, played great but they lost. Words were said about it after the game or at a meeting. AB got pissed at Ben for singling him out. AB didn't like that Tomlin took sides with Ben. Bada boom, bada bing here we are. AB has to know that if he arrives at **** on time there wont be this problem. He has had a terrible year for behavior. Chucking the furniture out the window near that kid. Pretty tough to grow up at 30. This will be ugly.

I’m just amazed at the stupidity of some fans still finding a way to blame Ben for all this. Every comment section on an article I read, it’s Ben’s fault lol.

Just watched the Rapoport video on the situation and he basically said AB yelled and was venting. Sounds like La Canfora got word of the story but was sure to word it in a way that would get more hits/reads while still not entirely falsifying about the situation.

Yep, I've come to the conclusion that Steeler fans may be some of the dumbest sports fans.

I was listening to Cook yesterday. It was painful to listen to. Absolutely clueless and so many still living in the 70s. I wouldn't say they are the dumbest because I find most of the former players turned analysts to be more clueless.

It's not all fans or just the fans, but some of the idiots in the Fan put ideas in listeners head I think. Like that *** clown Chris Mueller tried and tried to blame Ben for Riddley fumbling the ball, saying he should've audibled out of it. Bouchette, Clayton, Pomp, were all guests on his show and he asked them all if Ben should be to blame for that, and they all shut him down.

LOL...Rappaport, LaCanfora.....their sources are player agents....not actual players or witnesses.

Dale Lolley was AT WED practice when AB supposedly blew up...He didn't see or hear AB say anything.

Did AB Skip practice all week, did AB skip the team meeting on Saturday, Did AB play in the game on Sunday? Whatever caused that to occur is irrelevant, how he handled it is all that matters. IF he blew up in practice but showed up Thursday, Friday, Saturday and played on Sunday it would be a non-issue.
