OK, so there sexual assaults on campus. Some were by football players. But what did the coach do wrong? Did he cover them up? Why was he fired?

He wasn't doing any of the crimes, was he? This wasn't a deal like at Penn State was it?

He is a good coach, making a smallish private school (17,000 students) into a legit national contender.

Quick, without looking up...who did the Steelers draft from Baylor in the first round in the 1980's? He was not considered a stellar draft pick, but not a total bust either.

The board hired a PA law firm Pepper Hamilton to investigate how the school has handled several rape cases.. Their investigation concluded that the school did not respond appropriately, including the football coaches choosing not to pursue any discipline against the players not only through the team, but also by not reporting it to police. So basically the football coaches tried to handle a bunch of rapes by their players by meeting privately with the families and hoping they just went away, rather than doing the right thing.

Win at all costs. Hide anything that will make program look bad. Sounds familiar. I am looking your way Penn State.

If the coaches did indeed try to hide things their players did, such as rape, that is awful. WTF is wrong with men who rape women? How is that even something desirable? What ******* animal ********. Ben was a pig, I think we all know that (trying to have sex in public bathrooms). But speaking to girls I know who live in Pgh, they say, "Oh, Ben is a pig, no doubt. But I don't think he would ever force himself on anyone."

And the way (danger, danger, going off topic) the manner in which Muslim countries treat rape repulses me. Do they really blame the women who get raped? If that is true, that is wrong beyond words.
 
Briles is a good coach and I hated when he left Houston. The report says they accepted players with known issues and did not monitor them correctly. They either tried to cover up or in one case discredit reports of sexual abuse. **** him...he will get another chance somewhere and hopefully he runs the program correctly next time
 
So the good news is Baylor has vastly improved it's football program. The bad news is the new players are a little bit rapey.

If you've got a daughter, send her to Clemson. Sure, she'll get loaded with the team and play Fallout till 6am, but at least she won't be fighting off unwanted dick.

This is evil stuff. Coaches acting like nothing happened up for players accused of rape/ assault while the Baylor pressures the alleged victims to keep quiet. You'd expect this at FSU, not Baylor.
 
I don't like this either - not one bit. Covering up your (the team's) transgressions to "keep winning" is shady...kinda like deflating footballs and Spygate...

The dirty secret is the college football often makes the most money for their school and pays for the other sporting events including some of the women sports ( title 9 says you have to have an equal amount of women's and men's sports sports ) , which very few people attend, and often cost more to operate than they bring in.

As such the college football players and the program are needed to fund athletics, and prevent the school dropping many women's sports where it makes economic sense to do so.

While some schools claim they lose money on their sports, it's not from D 1 football. One game can often pay for an entire program...as long as they don't pay the coach too much! We know, the players don't get paid on the books.

So the football players themselves are pretty much untouchable unless there some form or video evidence, or numerous testimonials against. A few of them are criminal like and know they can get away with it. Worse is the campus police know the deal and protect the brand as much as possible. Meanwhile, students and women can be targeted.

If it were up to me, I'd ban Baylor football for a full year. The law might not matter to some players or coaches the Baylor U program, but I guarantee you the money does. And when that is taken away the coaches and the Athletic director, plus the campus police will change perspective and quickly kick the criminal types out.

I like college sports. But hot damn, these guys hide **** and pull more strings to get an athlete ahead. University's should be schools first, athletics second---but nooooo. Drama drama drama

I don't know if that is a good thing or a bad thing, though. I wish I could remember other things like I do Steeler history.

For a while they had a little pipeline of backs coming out of Baylor. Greg Hawthorne was a No 1 in '79, Frank Pollard was a 12th rounder in '80 or '81, and then you had Abercrombie.

At the last game we were at, three people were walking about with a 1980's Steelers' jersey, asking people if they knew who wore #87 in the 80's. Not a single Steeler fan could come up with the answer.

I did.

That one I didn't remember. My buddy did, who may have a better memory than me about the old Steelers. He threw that one out there at a game we watching at up at the neighbors with a bunch of other guys. He now has the nickname "Scoop."

To this day my cousin and I joke about how Weegie had his best training camp in his career and then the Steeler's cut him. I can't remember the exact year but usually we crack that joke between each other at least once a year.
