BREAKING – The Steelers select center Kendrick Green

https://Invalid Link - Check SN Hom...een-in-the-third-round-of-the-2021-nfl-draft/

Listed at 6'1/7 " shorter than average arms. Moved to Center and just played a few games there because he's too small for a guard.

Are there any starting centers playing today under 6'2"? Just asking? Looks to be a good run blocker. Reports say pass protection issues. Better than what we have, but is he the long term solution? I would have went with Meinerz as his upside is much better.
I guess they preferred the kid that played against better competition. Also is more athletic

I'm sure the Steelers were aware that Meinerz who I like, was sitting there for the taking. They think Green is the better player so they selected him.

Green can be a dominant run blocker.

If you're making the investment in Harris, Green is a good pick.

Also, Green has tremendous upside, despite the size issues. Not many centers are as quick and strong as him and he is still new to the position.

This is the best draft for centers in a long time. It gave the Steelers the luxury to wait a bit.
Luxury is a trigger word 'round here...

He's tall enough. He has a mean streak, which we like. He is very athletic. As I already said, he has only been playing OL for a couple years. He started college on the D-line. So, he has tremendous upside as he is still learning the position.

I do hope he has a legitimate chance to win a starting role. I think we all saw the line was better with Dotson was in last year, but they stuck with the veterans when they were healthy.

Steelers website will always add a few inches Timmons who was just under 6"1 was listed at 6"3 when drafted, let's just say he is a tad bit just very close under 6"2 but we have seen so ma y good unders play shorter due to suberb athletic and high IQ like Dawson Saturday. With his athletic ability scheme-wise, they took him over Meneriz's short squatty frame good low center of gravity which should help on those up the gut runs for harris. As well get downfield like Pouncey used to

I think Green will upgrade over us over who we have, but I do not see him a long term center. He's short, with short arms, light and with just average power, and pass blocking issues will have his issues in the NFL. Please, Meinerz has way better tools, and moved DL players, the ones invited to the senior bowl around with shocking ease. That should have been the pick.

You do realize his height could actually be an asset at the center position in terms of getting leverage on opponents, especially in the running game?

His game video is impressive. He's explosive and he mauls people.

He has to prove some things in the passing game, but he's a very good prospect in a deep center class.

Numbers don't mean squat ......... lol ...... or do they ?
Every year the Steelers seem to draft a guy outta nowhere that most on the board end up scratching their heads..... let's give him a chance and see where this goes
Like your enthusiasm Pastor
What got me is I really didn't study guards. So he wasn't on my radar. But the Steelers knew he had played both positions and knew that he had an attractive combination of physical and athlete. Good find with this one Tombert.

They did say if it came down to a coin flip they’d take the guy that played last year, the kid from Wisconsin Whitewater did not...no fault if his own, but same result.

Also played against divIII whereas the kid from IL played vs big 10 defenders.

Think we go this route 10 out of 10 times if the prospects have even similar grades.

Lot's of teams like taller C with DT getting bigger esp 6"5-6"7 so I think teams like 6"4 C with good wing spans to combat tall DT who have long wingspawns

I'm not sure where you're getting your information from. Green's arm length is 32 1/4, Pouncey's' was 32 1/2, hardly short arms, especially for 6 foot 2. And Green has bigger hands than Pouncey and did 25 reps with the bench press.

regardless the kid is as probably as athlethic as Pouncey just about 2-2.5 inches shorter still should should be a good C

This statement is all I need to know he will be out center for the next 10 years or more.
