WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT

Wow! Kendrick Green is a genuine athlete. His athletic scores are ELITE!

10 yard split... 1.69 seconds
3-cone... 7.72
Shuttle... 4.58
Broad... 9'11"
Vertical... 35.5"

Those are ELITE numbers for an OLineman... let alone a Center. These numbers better than many Tight Ends!

I was not up on him. Our new OL Coach was at his Pro Day (says a lot... minimal other prospects).

He is universally reviewed as having a mean streak and an edge... former DLineman.

Oh, and a legit 700 pound full squat.

I am intrigued.

There's a mystery here with this height thing. I've seen him listed as 6'1 7/8, 6'2, 6'3 and the Steelers site has him listed as 6'4 (315 Lbs). I'd like to hope the Steelers know how tall he is. So, I'm going to go with that. Which makes him NOT short for a Center.

Would have preferred Creed Humphrey in the second round as a plug-and-play starter, but I'm willing to give this guy a chance. Looks like he can really move well from the center position.

Meinerz was there too, most of the rankings I read had them both almost identically valued. Without a doubt I'll give the scouts the benefit of the doubt as they interviewed these kids and spent hours studying them.

if I remember story correctly, the Steelers OL coach was at Green's pro day

I agree. But I gotta say people believed in Dotson last year and I was like give me a break. If Green is a Dotson you basically got the second best TE in the draft?? for free.

I don't think he is a starter this year and we needed starters. It looks like we go into this year with backups moving up to start and possibly grab a cast-off FA or two as we have no depth either.

Nfl.com graded him as a good backup?

Hopefully he will be another great Steeler center for years to come. As far as size- keep in mind Dermonti Dawson was 6’2” 288 coming in the second round. This kid is a freak athlete and I hope he can put it all together in the pros. Green, Dotson and Decastro have the potential to be a very good interior for the next year or 2

I guessing "this guy" will be starting.

Numbers don't mean squat ......... lol ...... or do they ?
Every year the Steelers seem to draft a guy outta nowhere that most on the board end up scratching their heads..... let's give him a chance and see where this goes
Like your enthusiasm Pastor

The Steelers drafted Green with a particular scheme in mind. It appears they felt he was the best for this scheme over the other options.

Read more about why the Steelers had their eye on Green and he was their guy. He has a nasty demeanor and is a heck of a run blocker. He was also on the DL when he came to college and switched to the OL so he is still learning. Could turn out to be a nice pick. Not sure if he will start this year but you never know. It's not like we have an all pro (or even a previous starter) at C. We have 2 guys that were backups that got a few starts due to injury.

Based on what Green brings to the table, he had to be one of their top 2-3 center prospects. They knew they could get him in the their and when you consider that, I’m not sure they were going to get a better pick in the second than Freiermuth. Seeing the guys that went after him, not many who you could say were better prospects.

This was a sneaky great signing!!! I see young Pouncey in the kid's highlights (that's not a bad thing)...
We all seem to give props for the Steelers drafting prowess at WR and lack there of at CB....
I think they have done reasonably well with the drafting of the C position ........ Iron Mike Webster OK , Dirt Dawson OK, Pouncey OK........;)
Kendrick may be a little "Green" at the position ....but let's give him some time

nfl site has him at 6'2" 305#

this is usually the most accurate info

Listed at 6'1/7 " shorter than average arms. Moved to Center and just played a few games there because he's too small for a guard.

Are there any starting centers playing today under 6'2"? Just asking? Looks to be a good run blocker. Reports say pass protection issues. Better than what we have, but is he the long term solution? I would have went with Meinerz as his upside is much better.

Green can be a dominant run blocker.

If you're making the investment in Harris, Green is a good pick.

Also, Green has tremendous upside, despite the size issues. Not many centers are as quick and strong as him and he is still new to the position.

This is the best draft for centers in a long time. It gave the Steelers the luxury to wait a bit.
