In the last two preseason games there have been two opportunities to let him kick second half field goals and they have let the backup guy kick both. If it is indeed a real competition that is fine. But if they are going with Boswell for sure I want to see him kill every kick right down the middle. I dont even think he kicked one last night.

I'm pretty sure the BOZ is your 2019 place kicker. They have their reasons but Boz has been good so far but believe me, I hear what you are saying. I've said earlier that I'd have a replacement kicker ready and in communication with him often, as a back up plan so maybe that is what they are doing with wright.

Salute the nation

Valid point Sask, but Tomlin stated mid-week their plan for this game was to go half & half w both K and P. Evidently they stuck to that script.

I agree that Boz is looking good, but I'd have him kick everything this preseason.

I think Boz is a lock, but it's also good to see what they have if he falters, which is entirely possible. It's good to a have a back-up, if needed.

Looking like he's back for the year. It was going to be a tough cut with his contract anyways so glad to see him kicking well. That needs to continue

Tomlin’s call. Unwise. Agreed let him kick it. Never treat a kicker with kids gloves. Points and games are on the line as we saw last year.

Mikey’s a dolt for a head coach. The Steelers will have to win with him.

Tomlin said they would alternative back and forth between the kickers and the kicks would land as they may. So far, Boswell has done nothing to lose the job and every Steelers fan is hoping he just had a lot going on last year personally and will be back to his normal self this year. The backup kicker they have competing with him can't do kick offs so I'm not sure why he was ever in the equation anyway.

It was going to be a tough cut with his contract...

I may be wrong but I thought I heard on the broadcast that he has a $2M clause that kicks in if he's on the roster opening day. So I don't think it's his contract that will keep him here, but the Steelers belief that he's over the jitters and back to being a top kicker in the league, a la 2017.

Boswell has looked back in form. It absolutely looks like they're taking a long look at a potential option in case things go wrong again.

He never played tonight. He never kicked a field goal in the third game. Either Boswell is cut or Tomlin just cannot get any more stupid. He cost you playoffs last year, but you dont want to look at every possible opportunity. Cmon.

Why are people referencing Boz being over his "jitters" when I thought I'd heard that our esteemed coaching staff played him while injured without mentioning that he was indeed injured. Was that not correct? If correct, it should be on them.

There is video on every possible cut kicker in the NFL. Why wouldn't you let Boswell kick every possible kick this preseason. You are deciding he is fixed based upon what three or four attempts c'mon.

Honestly the Steelers kicker was in the game tonight. The Slye kid hammered the ball all night. They will stick with Gano. Grab him Saturday and move on. It would cost 4.2 million to play Boswell and 4.8 to cut him in dead cap. The Slye kid will be cheap. I'm telling you no way you can go into the season with a kicker that if he misses a big field goal everyone will want his head on a platter. Do it now, cut it clean and move on with the Panther kid.

I think they are rolling with Bos..........

Boswell had a good camp and preseason. I'd be pretty surprised if they moved on from him after sticking with him after all last season. Heck, they continue to keep Jordan Berry on the roster and he is in the bottom of NFL punters.
