By*G.Stryker SteelerNation.com We are halfway through the 2019 NFL season, and I think it is safe to say that Chris Boswell is back! “The Wizard of Boz” is perfect on all 18 extra points, and only missed one of his 18 field goal attempts (a 54-yard try against the Miami Dolphins).** Boswell’s story is quite […]

He appears focused and has shaken off last year's substandard performance. Perhaps a healthy Boz contributed.

The question really is: was he playing hurt last year? Seem to remember he had a groin issue he played through. As painful as last year was, glad he's back to form.

Excellent article "G" and thank you.

Last year proves he had some kind of injury. The groin tear was probably minor at first but then elevated to affecting his performance as the year progressed. For what ever reason he was kept trod ding out there to perform at a sub-standard rate.

In the off season I was all for bringing in high quality kickers for competition. They brought in second tier but BOZ won out regardless. I am so glad for him being here. I kicked while I was in football and totally agree the phcyalogical is huge, even though I only experienced that aspect as a kid. Imagine grown adult with $$$$$$ pressure and NFL level, one can tell that Chris' metal is absolutely good.

Good decision by the coaching staff to let it play out as it did.

Salute the nation

IF it wasn't for TJ Watt playing off the charts, The Boz would be my choice for team MVP thus far. The guy has been absolute $$$ and as we all saw last year the Kicking game is critical. This was never anymore evident than against the Colts where he made the earlier 50 yarder and then Vinatieri missed the potential game winner.

I am certain he had groin issues last year.
Either he didn't come clean about how bad they were, or the doctors at the very least suggested he could play through it. (Hurt, not injured.) Obviously he could NOT reliably play through it.

Happy to say I was wrong as I thought they should cut him. Would still like to see him kick a couple pressure kicks in a season that probably doesn't mean that much anymore.

Umm haven't most of his kicks this year been pressure kicks? Its not like we're blowing out teams on a regular basis, minus the Bungles game, all of them have been pretty close. Points have been at a premium, so all of his kicks have been big this year. IMO.

Ummm there is a substantial difference between making a kick in the second quarter and knowing it may be the difference between winning and losing and lining up a potential game winner. I'd say the kick before half last week was pretty close.

As painful as last year was, glad he's back to form.
