I am not saying they would do it. I just explored what is possible and not what is likely. I agree the Rooneys are not going to explore that route even if they thought they could win.

Call me crazy but we were 11-0 this year, I say 1 more run.
We need to suck to get high enough in the draft for a franchise QB and that's not this year.
If Bush is back healthy and Highsmith develops into a decent 2nd pass rusher, see if Heyward resigns at a reasonable price and you should have a great YOUNG D next year, that can win with a decent offense.
Fitchner and the oline coach are gone, Ben must take a steep discount or retire.draft 2 offenive lineman and RB with 1st 3 picks and go for it one more time

Heyward just signed his new extension so the best we can hope for with him is a restructure. Watt is going to get $20+ million so restructures will need to happen, especially if they want to keep JuJu as well. Every other FA is probably gone unless they take less money. It'll be interesting to see how many teams will have money to spend with a huge reduction in the cap.

After the Colts game, I think even blind homers will realize we need to re-boot. I'll take all the comp picks we can getting 2022. The only player I really want back is Hilton. It's not like we will have the CAP space to keep our better players. Say goodbye to Bud, Big AL ( Who's playing poorly ) Dancing Ju-Ju who has not had a 100 yard game all year and Conner. I'd like to keep Sutton and Alualu, but once again we don't have the cap space.
Just cuz they J-E-T-S'ed themselves out of the Trevor sweepstakes doesn't mean they won't go QB. They could certainly trade back in the first, get a few picks and still go QB long before the Steelers pick. Then they can deal Darnold for whatever they can get. The Jets could get a first round QB and pick up draft picks. That is if they don't J-E-T-S their way through the draft (which is veyr possible).

Didn't know Heyward resigned, my bad. I'm taking a hard pass on JuJu, Claypool, Johnson, Washington should keep developing and along with Ebron we are fine there, save the money
Watt will get extended, but his cap hit will be very manageable the next 2 or 3 seasons
