ORCHARD PARK, NY – The Buffalo Bills today announced that the team has claimed WR Justin Brown off waivers.

Brown entered the NFL as a sixth round (186th overall) draft choice of the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2013. The 6-3, 209 pound Oklahoma product has played in eight games for Pittsburgh (2013-14), recording 12 catches for 94 yards. Brown, 23, was waived by the Steelers on December 30th.

Back in late December, the Steelers waived rookie wide receiver Justin Brown in order to make room for running back Ben Tate because Le’Veon Bell’s knee injury created a need for more backfield depth.

I thought he still had potential

We threw away Josh Mauro who looked good in the pre-season. The Steelers cut him. Mauro was and quickly picked up by Arizona. Yet somehow Landry Jones has a roster spot? With Moore on the way out, Brown had some value to us as the #4 WR. Not a huge loss IMO.

I don't think they really wanted to cut him but they had to make room for Ben Tate.

good luck JB

He will look good in blue and while - he wasn't used properly in Pittsburgh.

He could have easily replaced Lance Moore.

What makes you say this? He showed some promise in 2 preseasons but never really translated in regular season play...

The guy was a 6th round pick. These guys have like a 0.10% of making it onto a roster- I wouldn't say that we wasted a pick.

Justin Brown looked slow and unreliable when he got time in real games. This is not a big loss guys. Good luck to him in Buffalo though, I guess

But we still have speed demon, special teams ace and former first round pick Darius Heyward-Bey!

That's great for them, but who's throwing to him?

Guess that means another position/role change. They've already tried to put him everywhere else; I guess it's this or CB by now.

I'm not challenging you - but, I do recall that Dri was supposed to be that "Slash" type of player in our system...

All I'm saying is, if given a chance, he should be able to produce what Lance Moore did last year.

I also remember Ben missing him WIDE OPEN on the left side of the field towards the end of the season - it was a certain TD (unless he drops the ball)...

He sucked when he was playing, and I kept saying why the hell is he in there. He won't be missed.

12 receptions, 1 fumble. I'm not sure how representative that is, but I figure we can replace those receptions without the free value added fumble.
