Front Office was dissatisfied with Tomlin use of TE Pat Friermuth / middle of field last season.

Article talks about old system use and how the new system points to much more realization of TEs, but not them being the focal point.

Also talks about little on Washington’s $$$$ commitment but also points out Pat’s $$$ combine next of two years ago.

Good Home Page Article and worth the read for insight. (Thank You). STEELERNATION.com

What say you ???

pretty sure everyone here was fed up with the lack of use of Muutthhhh and the middle of the field

Definitely Coolie, slow time of year but also a home page article claiming that the front office was concerned about the Tomlin not realizing Muth.

You don’t see to many articles with diminishing light on the Tomlin.

Also Muth was given big money (at the time) and used less.

Now with Washington getting the “pay-day”, what will his us be?

I think under this new offensive scheme that the opposition is going to have to defend the middle of field as well, something that could be over-looked against the old regime.

I thought the article showed some good light on the tight end situation.

Tomlin always said they don't live in their fears when that is obviously exactly what he had been doing the last 4 or 5 years. I can't wait to see how this new O is going to operate with Rodgers and then without him.

Tomlin was afraid of using the middle of the field. He was a scaredy- cat.
This^^^^ He lived in his middle of the field fears. It's not just a rumor.

Such a near sighted vision of the game. Did things that maximized wins against certain teams that could not possibly give you a punchers chance against a contender. You could really tell it when they'd spring a guy three yards open because the opponent overplayed not worrying about it.

Absolutely!!!!

Can’t wait, really can’t come soon enough, to see how this offense operates without Rodgers.

What the offense looks like this year under MM is probably the most exciting thing to look forward to. I wonder if Rodgers in his advanced age will limit it tho

Are you kidding me. West Coast offenses are based in scheming guys open. If the receivers are capable of being where they are supposed to he is going to dice teams. He did pretty good last year in whatever offense that was supposed to be.

He has no mobility. He didn’t hold the ball long at all last year, it’s debatable if that was the scheme or Rodgers preference to not get hit, or a combination of both. He wasn’t good against high level defenses and was awful in the playoff game.

Yes the West Coast offense schemes guys open but you still half to go down the field-to keep the D honest, will Rodgers be willing to do that? Remember he and MM didn’t end on good terms in GB.

There’s also a reason he’s back with us, no one but the lowly Cardinals wanted him.

He might be fine, or Father Time and these other factors might get him. I’m hoping for the former but let’s be realistic

The scary reality is whatbyou just said, " no one but the lowly Cardinals wanted him" . A reality gut punch.

I want the offense to spark up. No telling if Rogers can do it. He's older than Ben was and people railroaded him out.

For sure.....which will create a bit more space for our WRs. When a defensive knows they don't have to defend the middle of the field they will obviously cheat toward other areas. I am still mind boggled why AAron would sign onto that. At least Ben would do Ben in the 4th quarter his last year.....which got us a bunch of 4th quarter wins and a "Tomlinship"...... AAron not so much. In the end we got the same results.....embarrassed in the playoffs. Get it done McCarthy!!!!!

Although our hopes of sudden youth / gas in the tank / slowing of Father Time, that is a hard ask to stop.

We will get the Aaaa-Ron version we all saw last year.

The short stuff will be easy, mid-range lesser, long range not so much.

Many here were calling for Ben Rothlisberger’s retirement even before he was this far gone as Rodgers.

Don’t get me wrong as I do truly hope for the Aaaa-Ron to surpass last year and succeed to two or more play-off wins.

HOPE is a big thing, excitement is dramatically in there as well.

Here’s to the party !!!!!!

The way I see it, our OCs have sucked for so long and our receiver group was one of the worst in the NFL last year and quite weak since AB left........add to that the LT situation and to.me it's hard to.judge what he has left. Manning won a SB with a noodle arm at the end. The ducks he threw up in the air were horrendous. Brady never had a rocket arm and for many of his SB wins he didn't exactly have the best receiver group either. Clearly Aaron is in that category. Is he old? Hell.yeah but he still can throw a pretty ball more and he's smart as a whip on the field. I still don't think we have a No1.....but we have 2 really good 2s and I know he's a rook but I think Bernard is gonna be a stud......add to that they have a young emerging line they've invested in that's only gonna improve and now a play caller in MM that is LIGHTYEARS ABOVE ANYTHING WEVE HAD how can you not think the O is gonna be noticeably better. Yeah Gainwell stinks but we didn't lose Leveon Bell and for frankly with better receivers you may not need Gainwell as much aside from.thebfact that you get a better run game with Dowdle.in there. He ain't a top back but he's a darn solid one. So let's summarize
OC......light years better
Receivers.....much better
Line.......improved
Coaching........improved, if not much improved
Larger staff

You A ron haters just love to bash because you don't like him.....yet I always find it funny how you talk in a way like you know him.personally. Anyone who.uses the media snippets, or media commentary of him to judge what type of a person.he is really are dumb as rocks
