By: Sean McGeown, @seanpmcgeown SteelerNation.com   Coming off their third consecutive loss,*Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger says he does not feel 100% right now. When asked how he and his arm felt, Roethlisberger had this to say: “I don’t think anybody that plays this game at any level, or at any position, whether it’s Week […]

I think he tweaked something in his arm and he’s playing cautious.
The look on his face and timid play says it all.

Ya, but he really only "stunk up the joint" in the 1st half of last night. There were a dozen drops in those games as well that throws off the O's rhythm. Those weren't Ben's fault. And, at least 1 and possibly 2 int's were garbage time throws or hail mary type passes at the end of a half. So, stats can be misleading. What isn't misleading is the fact Ben couldn't hit the broadside of a barn in the 1st half last night. Fichtner has no clue when to use no huddle. It gets the O moving and gets Ben in a rhythm. I think they should start every game that way and they definitely should have done it shortly after the 1st QTR last night to try and get Ben back in rhythm.

It's just another way of saying he's old by QB standards.

Seriously, if he is playing through an injury that is causing him to play like this, he should not be playing. Plain and simple.

There's been a lot of talk about defenses adjusting to him, and there's some truth to that, but he was legitimately playing better earlier in the season.

His legs just cannot hold up throughout a 16 game season anymore, especially when he's being asked to throw 40+ times every game.

Over the past few weeks, he's been throwing off balance more than he ever has, even on plays when he isn't pressured.

It's sad to see, but it was inevitable if he played long enough.

“I don’t think anybody that plays this game at any level, or at any position, whether it’s Week 1 or Week 16 feels 100%. So, no I would say that I don’t feel 100%, but nobody does right now.”

What the **** is that supposed mean?

If he's hurt, sit him. He's not helping anything the way he is playing.

Agree. His passes in the first Q were down right horrible. Blame who ever you want but they were terrible passes and decisions.

I remember them showing him on the sidelines awhile back, maybe the Dallas game? And he was flexing it after a hit, and I was thinking "oh **** here we go again".....

That you get beat up and hurt when you play football?

Exactly... honestly who cares if our games are home or away... if you cannot overcome the noise from 10000 or less fans, you don’t deserve to win... sit him the next two games and get him as close to 100% for the playoffs as you can...

The reason he is getting the ball out in 2.25 seconds is because the Oline is getting blown up and he only has 2.3 to release.

LOL, every time he plays like *** and is a major factor in losses he's hurt. Drama loving ***.

He says this every year because no one feels 100 percent at this point of the year. Football is a physical game and there's gonna be plenty of wear and tear.

the play ebron got injured Clay pool was wide open on a deep post for a easy 6

He said no player is 100% this time of year, he didn't say his arm is tired or his elbow hurts.

Honestly after the last game I'm wondering how much Ben throws in practice and if they're trying to save his arm but then he's not in synch with his receivers.

When he was under the Covid Protocol prior to the first Bengals game, he only participated in a walkthrough on Saturday and proceeded to have his best game of the season.

I do not think a lack of reps during the week is the issue. I just think his body has worn down as the season has progressed, as his mechanics were sharp earlier in the season but are a disaster now. Given his age, it may be a permanent thing.

I'm not going to go as far as to say they cannot when another championship with him, but it is not happening this year. This offseason, they're going to have to restructure the team to win the way the Broncos won with a diminished Peyton Manning in 2015, by leaning on the running game and defense, and asking Ben to make some 3rd down and play action throws.

Right now, they just do not have the personnel to do that. They need to hit on a couple drafts picks and get creative with the cap in free agency to upgrade two or three offensive line spots and acquire a TE who can actually block.

It would also help to have a play caller the caliber of Gary Kubiak. Mr. "Fart in a skillet" cannot be back next season.

Remember Zach Banner was supposed to be the new hotness on OL but went on IR in the first game and DeCastro got hurt in camp and I think hasn't been 100% all year. Then we have like one first-string linebacker left. I think injuries hurt us as much as anything.

Injuries for sure and the team as a whole looks fatigued. Let’s not overrate Banner, he barely beat out Okorafor for the starting job.

Plus he is coming off a significant injury. So you don't bank on him, you proceed as if the team needs at least one T and a C/G prospect. I wouldn't even mind if that was selection one and two in the draft.

I'd be very surprised if two of the first three picks are not used on the OL, but I could see them going CB, DL or even QB in the first or second round if a player they really like is available.

Always ultimately BPA. But the Steelers like to do that with need in mind. This year so many positions they can go with but LT should be a priority. Even if they do that in free agency.

Our linebackers are thin as well. We need to add two legit ones with Bush and Dupree coming off injuries. And that’s if we resign Dupree. Our linebacker position is a red alert position for us as well.

That could have been his last great comeback. Every great player seems to have one game like this in him during their decline.
