Big Ben- Long but well written

All you guys bitching about this article, ****, half this board was ready to dump Ben and trade up for bradford. I just liked that the writer actually gave Ben some credit for changing.

Joe

Sent from my SM-G900V using Steeler Nation mobile app

That's what I got out of it that Ben has changed. And good for him. As a man and a team mate.

Ben changed long before this, why wasn't it written then? Why one week before the playoffs? He was never charged with anything, but this douche keeps hammering at it and bringing up.

Agreed, what was the purpose of the article? You could pretty much sum the entire article up as people that are jealous or feel that Ben owes them something, there are people that don't like him and will never change that opinion regardless of what he does on or off the field going forward, and that there is a town that is butt hurt because Ben removed their town as his hometown in a sports program. Never mind that the people living there seem to be awful judgmental going all the way back to his college days because of what he wore, how he walked, talked...etc. People can talk **** behind your back but you are still expected to be beaming with pride about that. Again, what is the purpose of the article?

It's interesting how people's bias over something as trivial as sports puts blinders on them.

I thought the article was fair from begining to end. You can no doubt question the writer's motivation to write this at this point in the season but, try to imagine someone from the Pittsburgh sports boot licking media writing this......... ever.

It's a human interest story during a bye week before the playoffs start. It's what people like to read who are sick of the x's and o's at this point.

I know some of you will defend Ben no matter what( I'm sure he could kill somebody and the " but...but..but maybe he had to "would begin).

If you choose to take the b&g shades off the question you have to ask yourself is " What does it say about a person who chooses(after he claims to be a better person) to punish his whole hometown in a petty, trifling, way because a few people pointed out his douchbaggery while he lived there?"

And we know he is a douchebag because we have accounts of how he stiffed many Pittsburgh establishments and has not made good on those debts to this very day.

It is not in the interest of those establishment owners to make up lies that will alienate members. of the biggest attraction in their city, and their fanbase, is it? So we know they are not lying.

I said it in 2004 when he wore the WWJD? cleats, I said it when he got married as part of his image rehab; the guy is a douche, case closed.

As they say in the music industry " "Don't confuse the art with the artist".

So we're going to see a story the week before the AFC championship game in NE that hammers at the spygate story over and over?

No killing someone is Ray Lewis's job, the guy that no one says anything bad about, the guy that is on TV endorsing and talking about the NFL.
Where in the story is all the charity stuff Ben does?

I don't think the article was particularly unfair, but it's clearly just a re-hashing of old news (seriously old news --- Jerk Ben disappeared like 6 years ago). He got married, had kids and - by every account - stopped acting like a jerk. It is what it is. The whole thing struck me as boring and needless.

and repetitive and terribly structured

Credit? What credit? He clearly thinks Ben's entire change is a total act, right down to how he pays attention to his kids. The whole article is written in a negative light, and the writer seems to be bewildered at how Ben has kept his nose clean for the last 6 or 7 years.

Look, Ben was a total turd. There's no getting around that. Even if he 100% did not do the things he was accused of, he was still acting like a complete scum bag. But there's no reason for this article for anything else but to drudge up clicks for the gossipers just in time for the playoffs. There is nothing new or noteworthy in the article, at all. And worse, his subtext attempts to slam most Steeler fans for either accepting him in new graces or for not dumping the entire organization.

**** this guy, and **** SI.

The thing that drives me crazy when people write about this is that they NEVER mention the ways the women were discredited. Like the fact that the first accuser bragged about having sex with him and told a friend that she hoped for a little Roethlisberger. Or that the other woman could not describe anything whatsoever about the alleged rape, including whether she was standing, sitting, facing him or not when it happened. I don't care how drunk you are if you're able to walk and talk you don't forget that kind of thing. The size and shape of the room where she claimed it occurred made it virtually physically impossible for it to have happened.

No, they all imply that somehow Ben got out of being prosecuted due to money or his status or something, not because IT NEVER HAPPENED. And this guy implies Ben admitted it or something...no...he admitted to being stupid and immature, which sleeping around with random strangers or making out with drunk college girls in the bathroom is for a grown man in his position. He never even hinted that he was guilty of rape.

So we're going to see a story the week before the AFC championship game in NE that hammers at the spygate story over and over?

If we make it that far and the Pittsburgh media wants the Steelers to face a pissed off Brady, why not?

Seriously though from a tactical point of view I see no advantage to writing that story as Ben is highly unlikely to read it. Seems just like a click bait human interest story.

People love dirty laundry, but some people don't like their heroes being shown for what they are; flawed human beings.

I have already received the " f*** you as*****" negative karma from one of the '30 going on 13' posters on here as I expected. And simply for speaking truth.

Ben is not a saint no matter what he writes on his cleats.

Notice I didn't bring up anything in my previous post nor this one about the allegations against him? Merely the facts that are KNOWN concerning his character.

What does it say about a person who chooses(after he claims to be a better person) to punish his whole hometown in a petty, trifling, way because a few people pointed out his douchbaggery while he lived there?

It could say he's a complete douche, or it could say he's still hurt that the people who knew him and who he thought would have his back immediately assumed his guilt.

I know Ben's no angel and I've said that here many times. I also know that any celebrity from a small town is going to have a lot of jealous losers exaggerating or making stuff up about what a jerk he is.

This article has been written before and it was 6-7 years ago. Not sure why he felt compelled to write it or why it was released this week. Nothing new or relevant to see.

I was on this board, when a LOT of people wanted to run Ben out of town. I went on record saying if I were Ben, and my teams hometown reacted like that when ZERO charges were filed, I'd have told the team, and the town to suck me, and taken my talents somewhere else. I suppose I'm lucky Ben took the high road, and decided to change who he was, I doubt in my mid 20's I'd have done the same. The last word the town would have heard from me was off, and the next to last would have been ****.

So, yeah, the reporter was a little slanted, but the pitchforks were out here in FULL FORCE. Hell, people wanted to trade him for the Raiders CB at the time, for ***** sake.

Joe

And Edelman's sticky fingers on the dance floor?

I'm sure...but that was 7 years ago, back when the **** happened or was happening. It was relevant. It's not relevant anymore. And I argue that the reporter was way MORE than "a little slanted." He was completely slanted.

In the past, the writer of this garbage also did an article on Ray Lewis and his redemption story of coming back from the murder charge. Just another reason why this guy is a total joke. Ben was never charged with anything, yet he writes this article. This guy also is from Miami and wrote for the Herald. Pretty timely article.

Now go look at the story SI just posted about Tom Brady writing a letter to a family who lost someone tragically, and yes that was great of him to do, but they elected to go with that story instead of one about the cheating scandals.
They could've written a story like that about Ben as well

It just makes it obvious that there are many folks out there who have an agenda against Ben -- it includes this writer.

No, noone wants to write that Ben's program to deliver K-9s to law enforcement is not only a great idea, but a unique one. Every away city we play in, gets a K-9 thanks to Ben. Why not do a story about that? Sorry, we can't, he's a jerk...

One other point, men tend to grow up after getting married and having multiple kids. It tends to cut into bar time.

Simply amazing how Ben Rothisberger is a condemned man even though NO charges have ever been filed. YET t*mmy b*y is inocent even when he has served his "CHEATING" time. I realize the allegation are different but not the outcome. Ben definately was an ******* but he never was charged in either of the allegations. T*mmy b*y has been suspended for involvement of cheating yet the feel good stories of him appear and the down bad stories of Ben appear. It's a ****** up world at times. Ben has done many a good things including but not limited to NOT committing double murder.!!!! Does anyone think Ben HOF election may take a vote or two or three for him to get in???? (I think he goes in first ballot).

Salute the nation

I hope this and senile Bradshaw's ramblings cause the team to just go scorched Earth through these playoffs. No mercy.

I felt like reading something like this:
"Ben got married to a christian lady, got kids that seems like he loves in public, but does he?"
"Ben became a better person...publicly...but is he for real or just show?"

that writer is a ******* hack and I'd kick his *** if I were Ben and found him in an alley

The writer obviously doesn't have kids, let alone 3...

This is what I'm hoping, that Ben will see this drudging up of old accusations (key word) and simply go off and finally get his deserved lwoB repuS MVP award that would shut up all the critics. Unfortunately once your found guilty in the court of public opinion, no amount of change or lack of failure will ever satiate the judgement that has been cast upon your character (unless your name is Brady, Ray Lewis, Jameis Winston, etc., etc.). Apparently no one remembers the injustice done against the Duke lacrosse team, because no woman has ever lied about rape allegations with an agenda, but who knows what really happened except the parties involved. Ben was never charged with anything, end of story.
