Big Ben 'leaning towards' playing in 2017

I think so too. It seems he's frustrated

Then he should be a leader. Talk to those guys privately, show them what a team player looks like, rather than the "I'm leaning toward playing", stuff.

When your super star WR pouts after a win about balls(lack of) being thrown his way and is happy after a loss because he got 10 balls for 140 yds...there is a problem.

i thought we've proven this false multiple times now.

I figure we have 2 years of Ben left, if his body doesn't start to betray him we will get a 3rd but that should be it. Hope we can get another chip with him.

Ben had a shirt exchange with AB after our playoff win about getting with the team and all. AB was busy with a fee other players doing FB live and just ignored him. I'm sure Ben has had talks with AB already but AB I'd about AB. Haven't you realized that yet? Most have. Including Ben.

While I think he's physically capable to play for a few more, this is one aspect that I completely agree on. Everyone has been worried about him leaving, but he needs to stop with this drama queen bs, and let his team know. This act isn't any different then the perceived AB selfishness. This is Ben being all about Ben. Understandable, but don't spout off about how others on the team are only worried about their self interests.

yea, me, too. There's a 51% chance I will. Still too early to tell, but i'm leaning. . . Wish I had ($)16M reasons to, though

And having to pay back 18 mill in bonuses. Gee,I wonder which way I would lean. Media being media. Ben being Ben. But the time is coming to an end. Get used to it. There will be life after Benjamin. The world will go on. I look forward to reading the thousands of pages of " will he retire this year"........."which QB will we take, what round"

longer than the Dri Archer thread? hmmm, will be interestin' around these parts, for sure. Also, a sad time. Not looking forward to that day!

Eh, lets tank this season so we get a high pick for a QB next year if that QB class is supposed to be decent. :decision:

Not this season.

After Ben retires, I think the tanking will come on its own...

I'd expect that the Steeler FO, in negotiating a deal with AB, would have involved Ben in the conversation.
I hope that his stance, publicly, is meant to say to his teammates that they need to become serious and commit to the team first, or he doesn't need this.
Behind the scenes, I expect that Ben in conversing with Bryant, Brown and Bell. I hope he is asking each of them to help in leading the team to team goals, not in leading the internet in selfish me-first ****. All three have been a distraction; if they had less talent, they would not be coddled.
I really wish that Young Money bullshit from the Wallace era had been stomped out harshly, as the diva attitude seems to have prevailed over time.
Play football, gents, or Ben will have other ideas.

I agree 100% with your post.

At that point we go find a journeyman QB and hope its good enough with the talent still on the roster. The core of this team is going to be good for a while. Not having a great QB is going to step us back quite a bit.

He's done that several times, even with Tomlin this season about players needing to focus more.
He contacted Bryant every day in 2015 when he was in rehab to check on him.

I guarantee Ben has told Tomlin and the Rooney's his intentions for next season

The talk of Ben being a leader and talk to the players, that went well when he talked to Brown didn't it. Look at Bell and Bryant they listened as well. I think Ben is frustrated with the players and coaches. The defense does not get off the field and when they do Ben has to lead the offense 80-90 yards. we have a hard time scoring inside the ten yard line with players we have on offense. How many times the receivers go out and just stop, Bell's type running does not lend to a power back at the three and four yard line. Players concerned with the ME attitude more than winning championships, Brown showed it all on is face book BS.

We know from history that long-term coaches often hit a wall with the players where the message starts to get lost in the noise.

It's not like similar-type coaches to Tomlin like Harbaugh, McCarthy and Payton seem to have hit "walls" after winning their Super Bowls. You could argue all of those situations/teams have degraded a bit in who is running the hen house.

Not sure there's a good answer for it other then take your lumps and hope you weed out the selfish players and have a good enough Program to find more talent.

The Steelers did not LOAD up in free agency. But I agree its a 2 year window with Ben and they should have spent more $$$$ in free agency.
