Big Ben concussion protocol

if he isn't yinz can kiss the season goodbye.
 
Season ... over ... we'll be picking at around 18 again this year.
 
and Tommy tom will say oh but we still didn't have a losing season!
 
He'll play this weekend. He's too dim to be seen with brain damage...

Tomlin has successfully lost a game coaching his franchise quarterback to a record number of passing yards ever against the Seahawks. In addition, in doing so abandoned his running game thereby exposing Ben Rothlisberger to a higher percentage of hits. Apparently one too many, Ben now is sidelined with a potential concussion.
Way to go coach!!
 
Well, Ben had a wide open DeAnglo Williams on the play. Williams walks into the endzone and Ben never gets the concussion.
 
Get better Ben. Or maybe just save your body for next season since we managed to possibly piss this one away today

He'll play him until his arms fall off, or something like that.
 
I'm more inclined to believe Mike Tomlin has either somehow suffered a concussion possibly 6 to 8 weeks ago or is experiencing the onset of early symptoms of Alzheimer's disease! During the final drive Tomlin and Haley elect to throw the football albeit successfully and preserve time on the clock benefitting Seattle should the Steelers score. Given a 1st and goal situation again, the Steelers are throwing incomplete passes stopping the clock. Now at 4th and goal at the Seahawks 3, the Steelers having the leagues highest percentage of two point conversions elect to kick a FG for 3 points bringing the score 32-30 and still needing points to win the game. Now Tomlin and Haley will stand idly by as the Seahawks receive a kickoff with plenty of time on the clock and one time out. Tomlin and Co. in effect created a situation where they guaranteed Seattle the win that could only change with a turnover something the Steeler Defense were incapable of doing all afternoon.
We haven't even discussed trotting out Landry Jones as the holder on a "fake" FG play? That Mike Tomlin is a real prankster eh?
The medical staff needs to keep a watchful eye on this fella, there's something not right about this guy.

Big Ben confirms he did not suffer concussion

In a radio interview, Ben Roethlisberger said he was not diagnosed with a concussion after taking a big hit Week 12 against the Seahawks.

Roethlisberger reported vision problems to the training staff on the sidelines, but he was diagnosed with a "traumatic ocular migraine" after further tests. Roethlisberger said he has not suffered any concussion-like symptoms since 30 minutes after the game. Ben expects to practice Wednesday and should be ready to play against the Colts.

Interesting, an article this morning in a local rag whose name can't be mentioned on this forum, the "writer" went on and on about Shazier's and Ben Roeth's concussions and described the NFL "protocols". A commenter lambasted Ben and predicted he would play vs the Colts because "he never had a concussion" but "Big Ben quit and walked out when the game was out of hand" and the "Steelers are trying to look like they are doing the right thing"!
Nice, some "yinzers" can be real jagoffs sometimes. Not to sound like a jock hugger but this kid (I can say that I'm old) has hauled this team to two Super Bowls, played with injuries to his feet, knees, ankles. Got his nose broke in Baltimore and finished the game.
I am of the opinion Ben is at a point in time where he has an O line that can protect him, and guys that can catch the ball he delivers. If the Defense could compliment the Offense a little better and the Head Coach wouldn't make "gut feeling" dumb *** calls that derail good efforts by the players, maybe the sour grapes asshats could heap a little praise?
Good to hear Ben didn't get his bell rung and maybe his "blurred vision" was from some of the local seafood.
Maybe we'll catch a break Sunday and torch the Colts at Heinz field! Let's just hope Hasslebeck doesn't do the same to the Steelers secondary.
 
What I read was that Ben had an ocular migraine causing his Peripheral vision to be impaired. I believe he did the CORRECT thing he thought about his health and his family first . Thank goodness it was not something more serious ..

And yet in Tuesday's news conference Tomlin said he is in the protocol and the team will do due diligence and turn over every rock and things of that nature, so to speak. I think after this season there needs to be a serious campaign in a ground swell of this website to get rid of this *** clown and this utter three ring circus that the Steelers currently call FO leadership. What a ****** joke.

Agreed with this whole post. Ben has been tough as nails throughout his entire career. Criticize his style, his INTs, whatever.. but one thing you can't ever call in to question is his toughness and desire to win and be on the field. People are idiots

And to the bolded: I'm not going to allow myself to believe our defense can stop anybody, only to be let down when the game starts. After three weeks of this ****, I'm now convinced that the league has figured out Butler's blitzes and how to beat them, and our defense is now hapless because we have no back end talent. Well, correction, who do have back end talent - it's just standing on the sidelines watching old or talentless guys on the field get torched.

Who you gonna believe, your loyal hard-working franchise QB or your snake eyes riverboat gambler?
 
BR is being lauded from coast to coast, network to network, talk show to talk show, for his candid comments regarding his concern about head trauma. That's good to see. Apparently he's the first well-known athlete to talk about the subject in such detail.

However....according to a friend who's a neurologist - and treats Texans players and other Houston-area athletes - BR's symptoms likely were a result of Bennett's hit. He said traumatic ocular migraine is a common symptom of head trauma and doesn't have to be accompanied by, or lead to, effects like nausea, dizziness, sensitivity to light, etc.

So whether BR did or didn't have a "full-blown" concussion is probably a distinction without a difference, as they say in the legal world.

The hit on the field didn't give Ben a full concussion. When he came off of the field, Tomlin himself pounded Ben in the head until he was concussed.
 
BTW, no one has brought this up: It'll be interesting to see if Ben's comments that he's concerned about his future mental health might impact how much longer he plays.

And that, in turn, could be a signal to the Steelers that they need to be thinking about life after #7.

It's quite possible that another hit or two to the head, and he's done.
