I live about 30 minutes from Johns Creek, GA. Nice place, but not as nice as where I live.

Ahh, and Roswell, GA is #44 on the list. Agree with that - great place, beautiful, peaceful, cops that don't take ****.

Parkland Florida is nice if you have oodles of money and don't mind horrible traffic.

I'm kind of surprised no Chester County PA (where I live) towns are listed any higher. It's not cheap here but a lot cheaper than many of those places, great schools, pretty, low crime...Harrisburg, Chambersburg and Scranton above us? LOL.

I note there is a lot of TX there but no FL.
I went to the time and trouble to get a FL funeral director's license but now I can't afford to move there. My company has locations in FL but they would have to pay me double to break even and I don't think they're going to pay me double.
We'll stay in our house as long as steps aren't an issue. In western PA winter sucks but that's really the only big downside. Cost of living is relatively low and we are remarkably free from natural disasters.

Prescott, AZ and now Calhoun, GA both have really good weather. Bit rainy in Calhoun in May but you should see the greenery.

Not to mention Florida seems to be where all the northerners who want to escape the snow relocate to - pretty much every Florida resident I've met when visiting was a transplant from Canada or Pennsylvania. Can't say the same for Texas or Alabama - most residents I met were born and bred locals.

Housing prices are crazy almost everywhere and the market will have to adjust at some point. Maybe if investors stop buying up everything for yet another Airbnb.
Florida doesn't have an income tax, using property taxes to supplement.

Their sales tax is less than here in AZ, and I'm just about to renew the plates (one year) on my 2-year-old pickup, $900, woo hoo!

Edit: Read where Florida is eliminating property taxes, no idea if it's true or not.

One day when leaving their place, I took a wrong turn on one of the hundreds of roundabouts in the area and drove by Crooked Stick Golf Club, which was kinda cool. I had no idea it was in the immediate vicinity.

There seems to be a lot of money in the area where they live, and I would guess they are probably within 5 miles of that golf club. They moved into a big, planned development probably 20 or more years ago and that place has grown like crazy. There are some really nice, big estates in that area.

If not for John, I wonder if anyone outside of Indy would have heard of Crooked Stick. I have a frat brother whose parents were members there, or at least I think that may have been the case. I remember him saying they lived across the street from the golf course and they used to get police escorts to the Indy 500, but that was 40 years ago and I'm sure we were likely drinking every time it was discussed.

That planned development is most likely the Village Of West Clay. Very nice area. A little too condensed in my opinion. I’m east of there. Older homes with larger lots.
