Bernie Kosar offers to run the Browns because they suck.

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Bernie Kosar has seen enough and he can't take it anymore. He wants to run the Browns and clean up the mess that is this 2-7 team.

Should owner Jimmy Haslam take him up on his offer?

"I want to do this, OK?" Kosar said on "Tailgate 19" Sunday morning on WOIO Cleveland 19 with Tony Zarrella. "And I'll fire myself if we are not a competitive NFL team within a year or two."

The Browns have gone 3-13 since moving into a first-place tie with the Steelers last season at 6-3.

Kosar, who's been critical of Haslam and the current regime, ripped the losing culture under Haslam, who has gone 17-33 since he officially took over on Oct. 22, 2012.

"This is about a way of being, what you stand for," said Kosar, who was replaced before last season as the Browns' TV analyst on preseason games. "I'm not blaming the effort from the players. I'm not blaming the effort from the coaches. This is from the beginning, and I feel like a broken record, this is not lobbying to pick on people. But this is a cultural, systemic issue."

He indicated the new-era Browns have been pathetic.

"This is 16-plus years and this is unacceptable," Kosar said. "I'm not trying to pick on people. This is not arrow [directed at someone]. This is factual statements that this is not acceptable. This is not professional football."

Kosar said the new regime is more about branding than winning.

"I see this stuff standing for a marketing logo instead of a football team or a football organization, and I'm tired of it," Kosar said.

He feels for some of the team's star players, who have given their hearts to this team.

"It is not fair what we're doing to the Joe Hadens, the Joe Thomases, the Alex Macks, the guys that really have the gifted ability," Kosar said. "I want to at least help because you have to have accountability," Kosar said. "You have to take complete responsibility."

So what do you think? Should the Browns hire Kosar and let him run the show?

As often as the stains change management, go for it. The "Factory of sadness" demands it. What a way to run a team. Surly, Jeff the drunk... ooops... Bernie Kosar could not be anymore horrible as the various experts who have run that team. baaaaaaahhhaaaaa.

LOL....oh, sorry, I looked at the thread title and saw the words run and Browns and thought, heh, runs. Maybe that should be their new name, the Cleveland Runs.

I think Bernie has sobered up. He hit rock bottom sometime ago. His wife devorced him, he was at rock bottom. An old coach / friend gave him a job on his ranch. He had to show up sober and work regardless of what it was. Right away they put him to work shoveling you know what. He made goos, time goes by, he got back together with ex-wife and making a go of it. I don't think he is the "dRUNK" many here have potraited him to be. Now he could have regressed but I don't think so, as far as he has journeyed, not an easy give up. More power to you Bernie as that franchise definately need help. I get the "it's the browns" thing, but a tougher team means a tougher devision. That usually translates into a tougher STEELERS team and who doesn't want that??

He must have the same friend as Tommy Maddox. because that's the same exact story, only Tommy cheated on his wife.

Bernie was a very good QB in his day with the Brownies. He is a very smart dude and the man does know football. I understand his personal life has been somewhat of a wreck but put that aside and consider. The guy I really believe if given the latitude and free hand could build this franchise back up to respectability where it belongs. I welcome the Browns return to respectability since its good for the division and promotes a true and long lost great rivalry. Bernie would be so much better than the turds they've had posing as football men.

If he is sober I am sure the pressures of coaching (especially the Browns) probably can not be too good for you.

Kosar's mind is fried. He sounds terrible and had some personal issues. No way is he fit to run a team.

Can you really blame Kosar, or any Browns fan, for taking to the bottle?

I wouldn't say that. Sure he's lost a fortune through bad investments, his daughter does porn and he lost his marriage but the guy still knows football. I'm sure the Browns won't even consider this proposition from Kosar, and all I'm saying is he's a lot more knowledgeable about the game than what they've had since their return.

" Factory of doom" Bernie would would out class any of the ingrates they've had since the became a football team 2.

I can't believe they continued to allow Haslam to own that team after the amount of fraud his company engaged in. I guess it helps to be related to powerful political cronies.
