Since I know you watch Bama closely. Id like your opinion on Ty Simpson. Do you think he's better then Will Howard. Cause to me that is going to be the line. The Oregon Kid and Mendoza are not getting to the Steelers unless their pre draft evaluation is just junk and it's a KFP draft year. Your thoughts? Let's see if we put this first round QB debate to bed.

Simpson might be ok, but imo, it will take him a few years.
i believe Howard would be one of the top 2-3 QBs in this draft if he were in it.

My only concern with Howard is that we have no system in place to build him up. I may be wrong, but I haven't seen this as a thing since Shades showed up.

I'm glad he hangs around with Gruden.

Not sold on his arm strength. Short body of work too. Little gun-shy on QBs with a short body of work.

Definitely don’t want him in a trade up..

@Superman beat me to it but I would call it a wash.

Simpson is a great decision maker and can make every throw and is more mobile than he looks.

I honestly believe we already have that in Howard. And he's two inches taller not that really matters...
I have a question of this

When I researched per AI

Arm strength (relative concern, not a fatal flaw)
  • He has adequate NFL arm strength, but not elite.
  • Ball doesn’t always drive with consistent velocity on:
    • Deep outs
    • Far-hash throws
    • Tight-window throws vs press man
  • Scouts see him as more “timing and rhythm” than “power thrower.”

Which is partially why I questioned his short body of work…

I think we really need to see more. In doing so are we going to roll the dice on a high round trade up with that concern?

Can you smell lalala what slash is cooking?

😅

Simpson's NFL throws are as good as anyone in college football this year. He has good mobility in college, just not sure how it'll translate to NFL speed. I don't think he's a guy built for AFC North football.

After Pickett, if the Steelers are going to draft a QB in the first, I want a QB with some serious tools.

We have many serious tools that have effed with our QBs since well before Ben retired.

I think Rodgers has been that system.

Wait. What? 2 to 5 yard outs and an occasional deep fly route while avoiding the entire middle of the field isn't a system?

To clarify, everyone said last year’s draft was azz
Wait til 26
Now in the 26 “draft of great QBs” and a 6th rounder from the azz QB draft would be 2-3?!?!?

I love draft season
And it’s always draft season unless your team is a contender

Also remember so many people anointing the half breed Manning #1 overall before he ever played a season as the starter…lmfao

ADD in his year of tutor from Aaaa-Ron. The delay for him, gives him huge beneficial exposure to the NFL and the QB work with Rodgers. That is something the Tomlin could never have given Will.

I think will is going to be better than many here give him credit for and this “off” year will help contribute to that success.

Definitely agree the redshirt year and learning from Rodgers is a huge plus for the young man.

To have any expectations of a 6th round QB is more than a tad optimistic though.

Factor in the Tomlin shackles and it makes for an even harder assessment of what we have in him.

It sure would be nice for the young QB to get in a half or a game with Ayahuasca A-Ron coaching him up from the sidelines.

In fairness Manning did play much better at the end of the year, but it was insane for him to be projected #1 before he even played. I can see Manning being one of the top QBs next year though at least #s wise. I'm not sold on any of this years QBs really. Moore had an up and down freshman year, didn't play much in 2024 because of Gabriel, and had a very good year this year. Mendoza is a bigger guy and had 2 very good years and a decent freshman year, but he doesn't have an elite arm.

**** t*mmyb*y,……….. a 6th rounder that cheated his way to greatness.

I don’t want to debate his greatness until I’m told the percentage of Honest Abe & Cheating *******….. respectively.

At that point I’ll give the respect to the proper percentage, until then he is just another cheater.

This happens every single year...QBs are hyped a year before their draft eligible year, gotta be at least a 60-70% fail rate.
