Bengals Trade for Giants DT Dexter Lawrence

Please Stop. Our O-line has been a weakness now for years. Everyone who has watched the games knows that. Bengals are getting serious. We need to be laser focused on what we do in the draft and the free agency afterwards.
I disagree they again actually had a good year statistically.

They need to be laser focused on addressing their needs. One G need was brought about by departure. Not the only team need. WR , FS and to a lesser degree NT can be added into the equation.

Steelers advancement or lack there of is dictated by what they do or don’t do, not what the Bengals have done.

100

The last thing MM/Khan/Weidl need to worry about is being reactionary to a piss poor franchise like the Bungles.

This year is all about building the rue for their dish.
A very important but time consuming step one must not skip in building the championship dish.

By statistics our Oline wasn’t weak. I know we are down one G. But they brought in Brock to pair with Anderson. I presume the will draft a G high too. Knowing Andy I count on it.
I think part of that was Rodgers throwing the ball in 2 seconds.

Good move, this is what you do in Win Now mode. How does everyone feel about Spencer Anderson and Brod Jones now?

Draft Vega.

Well, we once had coaching that would tell us……..” we don’t play in our fears” …and that seemed to be ok plan….

Broderick Jones has had a setback. Again , it’s pretty clear we have to upgrade the O-line.

That just happened. We will see how much of a setback it is. But that is a new problem we shall see the degree of it.

Exactly…..anybody who actually watched the games instead of just looking at paper stats would know that.
I watched the games just fine. You are entitled to your opinion. I saw a Oline capable at run blocking and pass blocking. If anything the O was held back by WR play and a QB that couldn’t scramble like he once could or throw deep with the same velocity.

Anyone who watched the games should know that.

😄

And a stable of running backs that were mediocre to slightly above average…
Personally, I’m excited for this year. I think we upgraded the running back position wide receiver position, and if ARod does not join the team and we upgraded our athleticism at quarterback.
All those things will make our current oline look very different..

Im genuinely curious now (without looking to see if they could have made the numbers work) if the Steelers had offered the Giants TJ Watt straight up for Lawrence would the Giants have done it?? For the record i doubt it w/o the Steelers at least throwing in a pick in one of the later rds.

I for one don't want to see Cook or Anderson blocking Dexter Lawrence. Move up to get Vega.

What statistics? Rodgers gets rid of the ball quickly, I wouldn't put too much stock in pass pro numbers. And we're missing 2/5 of that OL now.

The Texans steamrolled that OL in the playoffs, I don't trust them against top defenses at all.

By that playoff game they were down a LT and the LG that left I thought didn’t have his best game. I will say Houston’s D is special too.

One game doesn’t knock down their overall body of work.

What we learned is they are headed in the right direction. They just need to tweak that left side which I believe they will.

I still think Broderick will be ok by game 1 but that is just a guess of course.

I think the team will continue building up that OLine. They brought in Brock and I believe you will see a T and G drafted.

Depending on BJ you still might see a free agent LT we shall see.

I will say when you are severely deficient at WR it isn’t going to domino effect your offense well.

We shall see how it all plays out I just don’t see the Oline as a weakness…

Extremely unlikely for two reasons:

1. Giants already have a decent pass rush group;
2. A 31 year old, turning 32 in season, non-quarterback when a top 10 pick is on offer? I don't think anyone other than the Browns would do that.

Yep Slash,I think we both watched those games just fine. Before Jones got injured he was definitely improved and I thought was our best OLineman. What a shame he got injured. Personally I thought Isaac uncharacteristically dropped the ball in his play most of the season. I think he had some nagging injuries. I was looking forward to the unit playing this season.

And you didn’t even mention having an offensive minded HC that is good with QBs and develops his strategy based around the talents he has…

That just might be a game changer to what we’ve recently been witnessing on offense

Wow, the 10th overall pick (Caleb Downs) for Dexter Lawrence, who wants 30 million a year. I know he is a DT, but why not give Hendrickson the money and draft Downs? Big risk.
Yeah, could have paid Hendrickson (who has produced for your team) and got another player at #10. Instead, they lost that #10 pick and are paying a whole lot for Lawrence, who can be really good or a real malcontent. Typical Bengals move--doesn't make me feel any different about them.

I agree here, but note that Spencer Anderson will be playing guard. He has indicated that he is working hard at that position.
