Don’t say a negative word about*Devlin ‘Duck’ Hodges*on the Internet right now. Just don’t do it. Before Hodges’ latest win, a 23-17 victory over the Cardinals out in Glendale, Ariz., I tweeted this: Seeing a lot of people forgetting that Duck Hodges replaced Rudolph against Baltimore and lost. He’s not undefeated in his regular-season appearances. […]

Ben vs Duck, really, I thought only the fans calling into sports talk radio in Pittsburgh were making stupid comments. I can't read the entire article, so I'm assuming it's just comparing 2004 to 2019, but there's people calling in saying they need to cut Ben, Duck is the future, blah, blah.
Duck is managing the games fine, you put a healthy Ben with this defense, and we're winning games like Sunday 37-10, or when we get 6 turnovers from San Fran, we turn those into a pile of points instead of just 6.

Hahahaha... trent dilfer took a team to the super bowl and won it, so officially anything is possible... pretty sure most rookie udfas are better than trent F’n dilfer... and I don’t just mean rookie qb’s...if you put a rookie udfa linebacker at qb you would get similar production to what dilfer gave them that year....

As long as our offense scores more than our defense gives up we will be fine. The reality is, we need to finish drives with touchdowns and keep our defense fresh so they can be disruptive.

Good read HUNTER and thanks for posting the article here.

DUCK is improving as each game goes. Three more could show bigger steps but until we play higher talent, we won't know. On Any Given Sunday is a statement for a reason and our recipe for winning has been working. Coaching game plans need to take steps upward as well which im hoping will happen as the competition gets better.

Salute the nation

And much like the 2000 Ravens. The 2019 Steelers have a Superbowl caliber defense. So as long as the QB does not turn the ball over, as Dilfer was excellent at ball security, the defense can win a championship for the city of Pittsburgh.

Will it happen? Who knows. One thing a lot of fans do forget is Dilfer started slinging it in the playoffs. It was out of the norm from feeding Lewis the rock, so they got early leads on the road against much higher ranked teams. Much like the 05' Steelers with a young Ben at QB.

And if they truly do get a healthy Juju and Conner back to close out the year, it helps the offense greatly. We all see Duck can sling the ball. He's doing it with two very young receivers and the rest are practice squad guys. Its been amazing to watch.

2000 wasn't skewed toward offenses like it is now. We're going to have to score to win in the playoffs, we aren't going to KC, Balt, NE and holding them to only 10-17 points. Our offense is struggling to score vs some of the worse defenses in the NFL.

No. He can't. The Steelers defense can take the Steelers to the Super Bowl as long as Duck doesn't **** it up.

Baltimore barely threw the ball in those playoffs, the only pass play I remember was the quick slant to Sharpe in the AFC title game at Oakland, that he ended up running for like 94 yards for a TD. In those 4 post season games, I'd be surprised if Dilfer completed a total of 40 passes or even attempted 75 passes combined.

Only Steelers fans would want to cut a future all of fame QB with two SB rings for a UDFA that couldn't beat out Mason Rudolph.

thanks to the Rams, that changed.

No one is calling for Duck to replace Ben full time. These guys need to sell clicks for their site and I feel DK usually does a good job with his work. The question is Can Duck lead this team to a title? Stranger things have happened. They minimized his exposure to mistakes by running the ball and shortening the game in doing so. We did see Duck sling the ball around some and he looks pretty good so far. He lost McDonald who really hasn't been a weapon for us this year and is playing with at least one receiver, sometimes 2 that were also practice squad guys this year. Get him Juju back on the field with Conner and I think we can actually finish a few of these drives that are stalling out or ending in FGs.

Is Duck equal to Ben? No. We need him to protect the ball and get us a chance to score points. Rudolph wasn't getting that done. Clearly the helmet incident took away any self confidence he had in his game and Duck has no issues with his confidence that we can see.

Its exciting to us as fans because its extraordinary to watch a street free agent come in and potentially lead a team to the playoffs with this monster defense closing games. Hats off to the coaching staff for getting the team to this point.

I was talking about the fans in the city of Pittsburgh calling into sports shows. The first call today before lunch, "It's time to move on from Ben, we've had him all these years and he's had all this talent and hasn't gone anything, except one Super bowl. Duck has no talent around him and has won as many games as Ben did last year"

thanks to the Rams, that changed.

It didn't really change until Tomlin got here. Bens first couple seasons, only two QB's finished with a QB rating of 100 or higher, and 102 was the highest. Right now there's probably at least 10 QB's with a 100 or higher rating.

By the numbers, Hodges is playing better football than the "eyeball test" suggests. However, as Hunter said, if he doesn't start moving the ball a little more, the defense won't be able to maintain.

Duck HAS to make some more splash plays and show that he can keep the defense honest. Washington's huge game against Cleveland was a great example of how, when everything works just right, the Hodges-lead offense can shock you. They need to keep making some big plays here and there and just manage the ball the rest of the time. Let the D do what it's doing best right now.

For the record. LOVIN' the Minkah trade right now.

I don't listen to any of the talk shows or other random bullshit. Ben is our guy when he is healthy. By the way he was on the field getting in some work before the game. No throwing but he looks good out there.

My gawd u ******* are spoiled

Duck just won us 3 SBs in a row!

FLY DUCK FLY!!!!

I got a picture of this thing when I went to a game in 2013. This should be parked right outside the stadium on the river

A lot of Steeler fans blame Tomlin for the recent playoff failures when in reality it was Big Ben trying to be John Wayne out there. Many fail to realize that even tho Ben is great he tends to ignore the coaches gameplan, and it has killed us.
