Ben to IR, out for season

That's what I would do and it sounds smart. So I'm sure Tomlin has already dismissed it and will probably go 5 wide and use a hurry up offense.

I didn't care for Mayfield. I don't like small QBs and I don't like running QBs. So that made me not like Mayfield right away. I like the tall bigger pocket QBs that develop their game for the NFL level. I'd rather have Rudolph than Mayfield. The problem with Mason was that he was a system QB as well. He struggled with timing and precision throws.

To me, it seemed like Mason was getting the ball out quicker and more decisive than Ben does on the short to intermediate routes he threw last week. My concern is can he make all the throws? Does he have the receivers to make all te throws? Big ? for all of us Steeler fans, only time will tell.

We can all complain until the cows come home, but the fact is Mason Rudolph is our QB. Once Big Ben has his surgery and is on the sideline, let's hope they will have him work with Mason.

Simply put, the rest of the team needs to step up and play harder and smarter. Even if I bought a lottery ticket for the Powerball, my odds of winning the big one are probably better than the Steelers going 8 and 8. Heck some were predicting that WITH Big Ben.

Give Mason a break. He's a second year guy who really made improvement from last year. With Roosevelt Nix out we need a decent Full Back to stay back there to protect him despite the quality of our O Line. USE Bennie Snell NOW!

If Mason gets hurt, we will hear a lot of Quaking calls!

BTW at age 68 I'm old enough to remember the Stillers prior to Terry Bradshaw. Those were gloomy times. Younger Stiller fans have little if any perspective of what losing seasons are like.

While I hope Mason does as well as he can, I suspect many folks don't fully understand just how good Ben Roethlisberger has been.

He's in the top 10 all time across most of the statistical categories. That's All Time. You don't just bring in a guy and say, "Dayum, NOW we're cookin'."

I'm expecting Tommy Maddox. He may look great for a few games, but eventually - he's a dude.

Not too fired up about the NFL these days. With Brown basically getting his way every ******* time he turns around, the cheats just continually making the league a 1-team show and now that Roethlisberger is out, there's really not too much to get excited about. At least before there was the hope that Roethlisberger could overcome the coaching staff's inadequacy and win some games. Now - They're going to ask Rudolph to make up for Mike ******* Tomlin's inability to coach?

Yaaaa...

I don't think anyone is saying Mason is the next Montana or Ben.
But I also think it's too early to call him Maddox or some dude based on 1/2 game.
We get to find out for the next 14 or so games.
He's an unknown right now.
So, no, he's NOT Ben...............right now.
No QB making their first start in the NFL can be equally compared to a 15 year veteran who's won 2 SBs.

Not sure if this has been discussed. But read the surgery wasn't Tommy John's....

I’d just be happy if he’s the next Bubby.

I have seen a comment or two, but no major reports on it. I sure hope this is the case for Ben's sake. As I said in other threads, I have a first hand view of TJ and it is a rough ride.

I also read that. Not sure if it was Kaboly or who posted it, but they did say he was not having the UCL surgery. This is good news for a return next year and will have a much shorter rehab timeline.

One of the PG guys mentioned something about a nerve issue. So, who knows at this point. Just hope he can come back.
