Ben to Have Surgery

If Ben truly is going to be out 4-6 weeks. I wonder how much Jets would want for Fitzpatrick now that Geno is starting. Yes, Fitzpatrick isn't great but he's a hell of a lot better than Landry. Fitz would have a lot of weapons to work with, he had a pretty solid season last year and has struggled this season with basically only Marshall to throw to.

Jets can't trade him with their salary cap situation.

Jets have only about $1.2 million in cap room. Because they gave Fitzpatrick a 2-year deal and huge signing bonus ($10 million), they would end up taking a $5 million cap hit if they traded him (they would save on the approximate $1.2 million left on his weekly salary this year however that would transfer to whatever team traded for him).

Worst case scenario is they beat Cleveland and Indy and go 2-3 in that stretch. That would make the steelers 6-5 and in this division, that will probably still have them in 1st place or close to it.

If they get Heyward and Shazier back and hopefully Dupree, the defense should take a big leap forward.

Worst case is the Steelers rush Ben back and he has a set back. But I agree with you.
