Coates just announced he is skipping the AFC Championship game.
Don't blame Ben for cancelling out on this worthless, meaningless contest. After 19 NFL games he's ready for some good old r and r.

It's also going back to AFC vs NFC format. No more XFL BS, or Irvin, Deion Sanders team junk.

You force a player to be there and you will get the BS game where the OL and DL stand up and play patty cakes. Do away with the contact game and make it a flag football tournament or something similar. Nobody should be forced to put their health at risk for nothing. It's a shame. I really enjoyed watching the Pro Bowl when I was a kid.
If I'm the NFL, I start fining guys a couple hundred thousand or so for not showing up without a legitimate excuse. And I'd move it back to the week after the Super Bowl, so the players who legitimately made it could play. And I'd keep the game in Hawaii every year. That might get it done.

I'm not forcing them to be there, just lightening their wallets if they choose not to show up for an all-expenses-paid vacation for them and their families in Hawaii. The NBA and NHL have similar limited-contact All-Star games which lack any real defense, but are popular and well-attended by both the players and the public.
Maybe the Pro Bowl guys should wear grass skirts, as well.
How do you limit contact in tackle football...one wrong twist and a guy is gone for a year with an ACL injury. Taking money away from a player is forcing them to be there, spin it how you want, but you are forcing someone to be there.
Was it limited contact when Tyler Eifert dislocated his ankle while being tackled in the endzone? You can't limit contact in tackle football without eliminating the tackle. You're the guy talking about "patty cakes." That's not limited contact?
So players today are smarter than they were in the past about their health, finances...etc. Good for them. It is a ridiculous and meaningless game that nobody should be risking anything to play in.The game was played competitively well for years and years, when the players actually gave a ****.
I don't care if it is career altering or just an injury that forces you to miss OTA's, Training Camp, Conditioning...etc. Either way it hurts your team that you are under contract with for nothing. I don't watch that joke of a game so I have no idea who has been injured and who has not. MLB, NBA, and even the NHL can limit contact, the NFL cannot. How many career-altering injuries from these old school games can you recall?
Bowl games, you mean like the Billy Bob's Mountain Man Toothless Bowl, the spin the bottle Puke Bowl, or the Not Good Enough to make a real Bowl? Congratulations, participation trophy's have now hit college football. If you are not in the playoffs, you are playing for nothing at that point. You blow out a knee or suffer a concussion and you can cost yourself MILLIONS of dollars. Congratulations someone is telling these kids not to risk a career over a meaningless bowl game. Why would a pro athlete play in a game that he is not going to go 100%, defenders are not really going to tackle anybody, receivers are going to jog their routes, linemen don't block or rush, you can't blitz, so what is the point? The game is an absolute joke and I wish teams could prohibit their players from attending. The deterioration of the Pro Bowl is just another example of the pussification of today's sports society, in the same vein of the clowns who deserted their college teammates, screwed the fans, and refused to play in bowl games. It sucks.
Pro Bowl has become beyond a joke. Now I heard that Zuttah from the Ravens who is a turnstile is now playing because Pouncey is not. Guy is garbage and makes a meaningless Pro Bowl. How many guys end up getting the nod at this point, with the current format. Like participation Ribbons, everyone gets one
