They have a great oline, weapons all over but yesterday was the second week the offense badly underperformed. My brain tells me Ben has performed at the highest levels and really shouldnt have physically deteriorated. Todd on the other hand Ive never really liked. Somehow my gut is worried that it is the other way around or maybe both.

Todd?

Well obviously it's going to be Haley. Nobody in America likes their team's offensive coordinator. Common knowledge that they are the least popular men in the NFL. 20,000,000 arm chair coordinators could do better every Sunday.

26 points is badly underperforming? You had a guy off a year another guy away the preseason and Ben who played very little. Not getting why some are not seeing the cause of a O that isn't where it wants to be yet. Besides it isn't how you start but how you finish. These too early hot teams tend not to be hot late. The O will continue to improve it will just take baby steps.

26 points against a team with a backup QB that continuously couldnt move the ball. I see the same **** as usual. Cant score in the redzone, moments where they cant move the ball. Deep ball isnt there they keep going. Wr. Screen isnt there they keep trying. Points where they look like they will put a team away and dont. You were happy the way the offense looked yesterday? There is only so many games against back up QBs and the Cleveland Browns.

I'm not worried about the offense...they will come around. I am concerned that the team will **** the bed in Chicago. I was confident the last couple weeks that we would win, but I'm getting that weird feeling in my gut about this Sunday. Then we have the rats in Baltimore...we never play well there. 2-2 is coming.

So what exactly has you worried about Chicago. They shouldnt score more than 17. This offense isnt supposed to score more than 17 against the ****** bears.

That was our second preseason game. Though the defense is certainly ahead of the offense this year which is rare. 2-0...17 more to go!

I see improvement. As long as I continue to see improvement I am happy.

The backup QB plays defense?

Who is the ****** team we lost to last year? I'm just asking, since you revisionist historians say it happens every year...

No but he performed in a manner in which there was ample opportunity to put up 35 plus points easy. This offense has two major downfalls. 1. They dont stay ahead of the chains so if they dont win big on third down they are average or below. 2. They bog down in the scoring zone.
I see the same story arc replaying itself. A couple explosion games with multiple turnovers and two or three head scratching losses. Dog fight to win the division against the Ravens. Wild Card team.

Are you kidding me? You expected them to walk into Miami and **** the bed like that? Tgey looked horrible up to that point and were a patch work on the line. Then again against a decimated Ravens team. They won the division in the last game of the ****** year. Does this **** happen to the Pats? And even after they have a **** burger they role off five convincing wins. And they have 3/4 of the talent the Steelers do.

You mean the playoff team that we murdered in the playoffs?

The Steelers are all in. They should have two wr that demand double coverage. They have skill at slot and the best back in the league. If Bradford plays yesterday they would have been scratching their *** for a win. They go into Chicago we will see. Then its the Ravens for another 17-13 game even though the Steelers have a better defense and are light years better at every offensive position. Why?

34-3 to the Eagles starting a rookie QB and Baltimore.

FOLLOWED by playing a pretty good defense and I'd say our O did pretty well. The offense will take a bit of time to gel and become more productive as I see it. They also have the talent to grow and be more productive as if they were peaking then I'd be worried. Slash makes great points but add my two in and we're dead on. 26 points on a vicious run and not so shabby 2ndary isn't nothing to complain about. Some live in the past and some want 356,000 points per game but the bottom line is we got 26 and how many did they get?????? Crickets

Salute the nation

So instead of 3rd and 5+yards. We shall refer to it as 3rd and Haley

I am concerned for the game in Chicago simply based on the fact, they don't seem to play well there. Small sample size, but just one of those places that historically tough for the Steelers. Should they lose? Hell no. Maybe it will help that Cutler no longer plays for the Bears since they're 0-2 against him in Chicago, and 0-3 overall.

I'm not a big fan of Haley's offense. He did the tough job of convincing Ben that he doesn't have to hold the ball for the big play every down. He got Ben to embrace the short game. But Haley's offense seems to have nothing in the middle. It's a WR screen or a bomb on most plays.

With the deep threats of AB and Martavis, there should be tons of open area in the intermediate ranges. I just don't think they attack the middle or intermediate often enough. Something as simple as an angle route from Bell out of the backfield.

The offense is obviously good, but it should be unstoppable.

This is my thought exactly. This offense should be a "pick your poison" offense. If teams load up against the run (which has been the excuse for Bell thus far), then we should have our way through the air. You can't load up against the run and simultaneously double AB and Marty. If you somehow do, Bell or JuJu or James or someone should be open.

I'm not saying every single play should be successful, that's not realistic. But we should be threatening to score on most possessions. But yet, to your point, we do not work the intermediate. We fall in love with plays that work once and keep trying them over and over. We do not have a good balance with our playcalling. Plays should be setting up the next play. Instead it just feels like a hodgepodge, whatever we feel like doing on any given down. We waste so many possessions this way. There often doesn't feel like a strategy or any foresight to the plays we run. Just.. "let's ****** try this"
