*shrugs* He'll be back under a different name
I will say this tonight on ESPN after the game you had Tom Jackson & Trent Dilfer both trashing today's NFL and saying how easy it is to pass in today's NFL....not directly but indirectly taking away some of the glory that deserves to goto Ben Roethlisberger.
10,600+ career yards rushing with an average of 4.1
4,200+ career yards receiving with an average of 9.1
78 rushing, 13, and 1 passing career touchdowns. ( 92 total )
Shares SB record for touchdowns scored in a single game with three other players with 3.
Singlehandedly owns the post season record for touchdowns scored in a single game with 5.
Five time probowl selection.
1 SB championship.
This person is not currently in the Hall of Fame.
It's not always about all the stats you can name and cite.
And certainly one individual game in the regular season, or post season for that matter, is not going to cement it one way or the other.
It was an incredible game for Ben.......it would have been for ANY NFL player, past/present/future.
But you can't cite this game for Ben's greatness based purely on statistics, but than rage against everyone else when they bring up his SB statistics, including an NFL record for worst QB rating for a winning QB by a landslide 22.6, and career SB stats of 3 TDs and 5 INTs.
I guess I missed the post after the Baltimore game this year hyping his HOF induction.
So, it's your belief that he will be kept out of the HOF because of Super Bowl stats? What about career playoff stats including also games other than the Super Bowl. How about regular season stats? Do wins and losses play a factor? What about all the other "snap shot" games? Game winning drives? How about the fact that the media (who does the voting) is now starting to say Ben and HOF in the same sentence without a "yeah but".
Look, my vote won't get him in ..... but yours won't keep him out.

I'm sorry you're missing the point of my post.
I loathe people who crown based on stats, and specifically one regular season game stats.
I also loathe people who give sole credit/blame to one individual player on a TEAM sport....this tends to happen the most with QBs.
I also believe you shouldn't talk about any players HOF credentials or how many years it'll take to get them in until they officially retire and don't play another snap.
In the case of Ben, he's got another 5 or so years left? A lot can happen in those 5 years.
Maybe the Steelers with another SB or so.
Maybe Ben loses his escapability because of all the shots he's taken from awful O-line protection/hanging onto the ball too long/not throwing away and trying to extend the play and he plays "average" or "poor" for what we've come to expect of him and the last years of his career are sad.
We don't know.
He's been the best QB for us since Terry. Unquestionably.
I'm really just railing agasint all the HOF talk after this particular game.
REE-DICULOUS, in my humble opinion.

Ben's biggest hurdle to making the HOF is he is not well liked or respected by the voters. His off field drama (BS as it was) will always hurt him, and a career of play that some consider inconsistent. I believe he should be a 2nd or 3rd round ballot guy (black and gold goggles...maybe), but he will be hemmed by the writers and guys who think Joe Flacco, Tony Romo, and Colin Kaperdouche are current NFL "elites" . Oh, and he should have been MVP in XLIII. That probably would have sealed the deal, again "voters" chose Stoner Holmes over him out of spite. I bleed it, but I know the NFL and associates do not like the Steelers. Especially Big Ben.
I don't think it's a conspiracy, but it's pretty obvious that reporters don't see Ben as the "guy" they respect as a traditional QB in the NFL. They see him more as a gimmick guy. Even last nights performance won't sway the naysayers.Yep. It's a biiiiig conspiracy!
Interesting and thanks for the stats. I wasn't aware he was on some of those lists. Like I said before, I think he should be a 2nd or 3rd ballot guy.Ben will get into the Hall of Fame.
- He has 2 superbowl wins and 3 appearances along with another AFCCG appearance.
He will have one of the best winning percentages for a QB ever.
He is on pace to be:
-- top 10 in QB rating, Currently he is 9th
-- top 10 in yards likely around 50G or more,
--Pass completion %
--Top 10 in TD's... even if he played 5 more seasons with only 15 TD passes per game, he would finish around 6th in tds when he retired
even with the stats he probably wont get higher than inthe top 20 like Td% or Int%, he still will be comparable to a lot of greats like Marino and Montanna with very simular or even worse numbers than Ben
However, what he will have going for him is the legend of big ben. he has surpassed elway as the most escapable QB in NFL history. The comebacks and game winning drives he had are going to be magnified. the superbowl winning drive is going to be epic in this case, and frankly the really bad Olines and run game he had through his prime is going to help him immensely when the case is made

Well yeah, but he can't throw a football a quarter-mile over them mountains like Uncle Rico.Ben will get into the Hall of Fame.

15 TD Passes Per GameI would love to see 5 TD passes per game, now did you mean something else?Ben will get into the Hall of Fame.

I can understand the wait til they retire approach. And I also don't think that one game puts any person in them HOF .
