Bell to Become UFA; Steelers Won’t Use Transition Tag on RB

Who gives a ****, we are better without the POS and his ridiculous money demands.

If they had no intention of tagging him this year, why would they not have made the agreement with him last year so that he shows up for the last part of the season? That was the whole reason Bell did not show up at the trade deadline.

Exactly

Stubborness over that was beyond stupid. Pride over rings, disgusting, a slap in the face to all the fans

Pundits saying the Steelers blew it with Bell.

Bullshit. Watch him not even get what the Steelers offered in the first place.

To think, Bell could be in the third year of a long-term deal if he signed it two years ago.

The next failed or missed test equals what? One year, or 'lifetime' ban?

This is something any team interested in signing him will have to consider. Do you want to invest a huge portion of your team's salary cap in a player that might become unavailable at any moment?

I don’t know... we obviously used bell differently that most backs get used I think they were in a position to have paid him last year. If they didn’t want to pay him them then trade the mf! How fukn hard is that??? You end getting nothing and in the process split the lockeroom. Management fkd this up from the get go and it has become a common theme... losing from the top down. Ownership has become sloppy and out of touch with reality, the coaching is sloppy and outdated, the playing sloppy with players fuking up off the field as much as on the field... bell just the tip of the iceberg. Time to go to Rooney 3, fire everyone from owner down, clean house, trade some of these guys while you can get something for them, bring in a young coach noll that can build a team the reflects the work ethic and character of the city! Go Steelers!!!!!!!!

He still ****** with our year last year. For me I will never welcome him back.

He can go merry go round **** himself.

This ^^^^^. He’s a liar. He tweeted to the whole world he would be playing. Surely told the team, too. Hence, his 15 mil was tied up. The team COULD have made a roster improvement had he not misled. He could have been traded. He deceived his team and arguably helped make a year as contenders become a wasted season.

He’s gone from “This will be my best year ever” to quoting MLK about being “free at last.” In hindsight, him smoking pot two times showed us his selfishness and stupidity. I detest him, and fight the urge to wish him a broken leg this year (I was raised not to be that way.)

Opting not to use the tag sends a message too. We don’t want any scenario that keeps Bell in Black and Gold. “Don’t let the door hit ya where the good Lord split ya!”

He gained what 25, 35 pounds in his year off? He came into the league with a weight problem. Chances are besides fighting to get back in shape, and not having a great O-line, or QB, or both, that he won't be the same player he was.If ever there was a buyer beware, it is this guy.

Well the Dolphins were able to trade Landry to the Browns. It was a sign and tag.

Why couldn’t the Steelers do the same?

I can’t stand the guy. He’s over rated and like you said a liar.

I suspect the law will get him. Either pot or a paternity suit.

Is it possible to trade a player that isn't signed?

The Dolphins figured out a way to sign and trade their franchise tagged diva. The Steelers did not. You have to sign the tag to be traded.

So the question remains, did the Steelers want to trade Bell last year, or were they thinking you either play for us or nobody. If Bell just wanted money and was okay with a trade, that could have happened. All he would have to do is sign the tender, and hire some movers.

It all came down to Bell's greed. They offered him a more than fair offer and he turned it down. Any deal they would have worked out in a trade would have been **** on by Bell, blowing up the whole trade.

Now, the question becomes, what will happen now with him in free agency?
1). Some team will overpay
2). He won't get what he is asking for (the moon), and he sits out.

I say #1, but with Bell's greed, arrogance, and stubbornness, coupled with the market value, I can easily see him sitting out to prove an insane point.

The Phins got rid of Landry because he wanted out and they didn’t want him. KC Art2, let everyone know they still wanted Bell. Hence the tag. He was a feature of their offense. Conner hadn’t provided any assurances yet. They didn’t want to lose him. They figured (as did everyone else in the sports world) he would show after preseason. Bell even intimated he would do just that. Then after the Gurley contract and Earl Thomas’s injury....he changed his mind. No one, not even you thought he would sit out the year.

We did not miss him last year, we lost games because the defense could not hold leads . He has sat a year threw away 12 million. Where will he get what the Steelers offered plus this money he did not need.

I’m sorry, but I just cannot concentrate with your avitar. Damn.

What!?!?
