Bell suspended

Coach for the millionth time please stop equating hip hop with smoking.. bell smoked cause he wanted too had nothing to do with the Hip Hop culture. Asfar him being a idiot I totally agree.

If anything this lowers his contract demands and gives his knee more time to heal. And when he comes back I don't immediately give him back his job. Tomlin can control that.

We should just be thankful he's not into jazz. Then he would be shooting up heroin. /sarcasm

if true what a ******* moron, he just flushed at least 30M down the drain

Well it's a missed drug test, doesn't mean he exactly failed it. And judging by the the photo/videos James Harrison has put up its possible they can have up to 5-10 random drug test within just a few months. Put that together with his rehab, training, and camp schedule I see how it's possible he can miss one. Also anyone familiar with weed knows it can be detected up to a month, last we heard from Bell he had a test on 4/20 and passed. All I'm saying is if he's passing test and miss a test due to practice etc then pass another then he shouldn't be penalized for it. Just my opinion.

Such disappointing news, I pray this will not be true...yes we can survive 4 games without him but what a blow to the team this would be one week from starting camp. And this a-hole was looking for a payday? How stupid can you be!!!

I'm so pissed I'm about to burn my #26 jersey for wasting money on this selfish fool...so much talent wasting it for dopey afternoon...FFS

No new contract for Bell. Guess this is why he hasn't been extended. What a ******* waste. Disgraceful

Hope DeAngelo is ready to carry the load again

Can anyone remember the last time the Steelers haven't had their season chances completely hamstrung during the pre season by either key injuries, suspensions, or both? I can't. Either one or two key players is lost for the season by the time the 1st regular season game rolls around or some dumb **** gets suspended for part of a season doing something stupid. If he missed that test because he would have tested positive for something he deserves what he gets.

This is more damaging to Bell then the Steelers.. We may not be as good or explosive with Bell but we will be just fine with Williams. Bell ******* up his own money and saving the Steelers money on a new contract or by not signing him altogether. Me I would still sign him but now on the Steelers terms. He has no leverage now. The Steelers have the upper hand and I would shelve all negotiations till next year. If the Steelers decide to just let him play out his deal that's on him..

But but but it was all LeGarret Blount's fault. The dude is an idiot and of course Tomlin was way too soft on him after the driving to the airport episode. Playing him.more in preseason was his punishment, SMH.

The thing that burns me the most is that this guy could and should have been one of the greatest RB's to play in the NFL ever but he probably won't realize that potential. He is flushing his career down the toilet with stupidity....and the injuries certainly haven't helped either. I'm sure he will still have a fine career if he ever gets his head out of his ***, but he won't be as good as he should have been. I never would have thought I would be saying this but I'm ready to move on from Bell after his contract is up. He can't be trusted.

BTW, just heard on NFL Network, he has missed SEVERAL tests recently, not just one. SMH.

I think the punk culture that is permeating the team of late is a direct result of "cool shades" Tomlin. That's the flip side of the coin of having a coach "most players want to play for" when those stupid polls by SI are published. We have a coach players like to hang with. They relate to him.

But when you don't run a tight ship and want to be "cool" to all your employees, don't be surprised if a few of them to abuse the privilege.

Same thing happens in Cincinnati. And now it's happening here.

That all said, you can still WIN football games with this type of culture. You just have to accept the good with the bad. I've never been one to argue the moral compass of a team accept in extreme circumstances (demented Michael Vick). It's ******* sports. The object is to accumulate talent, coach well, execute and win football games. We all know talent doesn't come wrapped up in perfect packages. Especially in the NFL. We've taken chances on "hoping" talented players stay out of trouble and we're in a bit of a low spot this off-season with both Bryant and now Bell ******* up. We'll see if we can get through it.

Smoking pot is not an infraction I care about on my team morally, but it does cause problems with suspensions, contract value and risk.

No doubt both Bell and Bryant are WORTH a lot less because of the drug strikes on their records. If we can get them at the right price that takes into account the risk of suspension, I'm fine with paying it. But if they don't understand their value is lower, let them walk.

So? The team has a right to suspend indefinitely with or without pay for code of conduct violations.

Are you sure this fits that criteria??

15 million... ya right. Wonder what the Tomlin backers are going to say now. We need to fire Tomlin and cut Bryant, Bell, Pouncey, and any other thug on this ******* team and clean house! I don't care if it costs us a shot at the bowl I don't want to cheer for a bunch of degenerative fucktards.

This is soo stupid it's not even really worth a response. What are we paying Bryant and Bell again? I rather have them on the team than pay that same amount to camp foddlers than have them go off to help another team win championships... just plain stupid.

Good team culture should promote and teach young players responsibility and professionalism.

Something about our team seems to be lacking in this area..... wonder what it could be.

I definitely think this is a unfair way to look at this when the league and player union set up the drug testing so that these can smoke. This isn't a Steelers issue this is league wide. What does Tomlin relationship have to do with guys doing what they are allowed to do?? That doesn't make any sense

All the Tomlin defenders LOVE to tell us how much the players like to play for him.

Maybe they love to play for him because he has a long leash! Who knows. If that's the case there could be a relationship between the two.

Don't kid yourself....there is a much better chance he missed the test because a positive result was on the way than he was so busy he just missed it. Sorry, love the Steelers, always will, but the days of being a true superfan are over. Let's face it....a few years back we blasted on the Bungles for their off field behavior and now our favorite team has become them. Pathetic.

And again I wasn't aware only Steeler players are smoking they set it up in the CBA for only Steelers to smoke. Gotcha.

Yeah since it's only the Steelers.

And since this country has proven that young people are so responsible and professional.
