I appreciate some of the high character guys we have & this young man Leveon' Bell has owned his mistakes and is doing everything right. From his after the Ravens game interview with AB to his quote in ESPN today that "I want to be a Pittsburgh Steeler", & "we're going to try to do whatever it takes to make that happen". Let's make this happen................

Now I just want him to hit the hole quick a couple of times a game to keep the D honest...................:flame:

He is very often just one step away from breaking a huge run but that last arm gets him. I just want to see him get that 70 yarder. I keep waiting.

The "Mo" deserves Mo Money

I was hoping they could get Brown, Bell and Tuitt squared away this offseason and perhaps still sign an OLB with some pass rush skills, since they have struggled a bit in the draft. Supposedly they have more room under the cap coming up then before. But then another guy popped into my head that should get a raise. Big Al had played very well over at LT. I don't think he is an FA of any sort yet, but he probably deserves a raise. My hopes of an FA OLB may be out the window.

I believe he is a RFA next season. You are right. We will have to get a deal done with him if that is the case.

I'd do whatever it takes to sign Bell. He's the complete package. Solid, patient runner, good hands out of the backfield, can block decent and is young. He has some missteps, but I'd give him the benefit of the doubt and give him incentives for games played, TD's, yards, whathaveyou, to keep his eyes on the prize.

AB and Tuitt, are musts, as well. They are the cornerstones of the franchise.

I have a new term for Bell. Elite Complete. He is the most elite, complete back in the league and is passing the eye test to be compared to the all time greats!

Vision - Elite
Running - Elite
Change of Direction - Elite
Patience - Elite
Route running - Elite
Catching - Elite
Blitz pickup - Elite

The only thing he lacks in the Elite category is top end speed. No other back that I can think of, was elite in all of these categories. He is starting to improvise and get success when he does, something I used to like watching Barry Sanders. The only difference is, Barry Sanders would usually lead the league in tackles for a loss. Bell is rarely stuffed or tackled for a loss. Heck, he even avoided a TFL this season by throwing the ball away. He might be the smartest back (football IQ) to play as well.

I have always said to franchise him, but now I'm leaning toward a long term deal ($10-$12M/yr). I don't want him to ever leave Pittsburgh while Ben is our QB.

When you sign Bell, you are not just getting a running back. You are getting an every down player who excels at running, receiving and blitz pickup. It's like 3 players in one. Back the truck up!
