Report: Le'Veon Bell's suspension reduced to 3 games
Dan Wilkins Aug 19, 2016 2:49 PM
Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le'Veon Bell has seen his four-game suspension reduced to three games after a recent appeal, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.

More to come.

Yep..Don't know how to feel at this point about this yet. If he had a legitimate reason why only one game. Whole thing feels fishy..

Is don't care if he's a good RB or not, he's a moron. He can't help the team if he can't stay on the damn field!

Stay clean and make your damn tests. Period.

15 million a year? No thanks.

Time to draft the kid from Standford

3 is better than 4. Still sucks that he did this to the team.

So what changed it from 4 to 3? If he got it reduced by 1 for changing his phone number and not notifying his employers, then it should have been increased from 4 to 5 for sheer stupidity (glad it did not).

Let's go DeAngelo!!!

This is bullshit. They reduced the suspension so obviously the NFL is admitting some mistake was made. This should be all or nothing. Bell said they were contacting the wrong number. Either they were or they weren't. The reduction says Bell had a point. It should all be removed.

This is just Goodell strong arming another player. He wants to save face so he forces a compromise.

He's still in the drug program so he better get his **** in order about taking tests and staying clean. I don't touch his contract until next August at the earliest. And I likely just franchise tag him and re-evaluate the whole situation in March 2018.

Logic has no place in RG house.

He didn't test positive. Otherwise there would be no reduction. If this is about missing a tests why only one game. If he had a good enough reason why only one game. I agree with Tape. Goodell is a ********

Wish they could have chopped it in half if he had to miss any games. At least we get him back, unlike Martavis. Gotta make sure he stays healthy and doesn't get out of line again. All this did was drop his price for his next contract

Then the NFL can test him at any time. He'll have to lay off the weed, otherwise, the next suspension will be 8-10 games.

Obviously he did. This wasn't about testing positive.
And if he tests positive again he will receive only 4 games. Part of the settlement is he stays in the same stage he is in now. More proof he wasn't smoking

As part of the settlement, Le'Veon Bell remains in his current stage of the substance-abuse program.

Staying in the same stage of the program means Le'Veon Bell's next suspension would also be four games, not 10. Decent deal for him.

Which to means sounds like this had nothing to do with any perceived drug use.

This is simply a power play by the NFL and Goodell.

obviously Bell was somewhat in the wrong, considering the ban was not completely removed.

i agree with Heinz that all Bell is doing is lowering his value going forward. I'd resign him now while his value is low.

Actually, that''s incorrect, he stays in his current status of the NFL drug/substance abuse program. If he violates it again its 4 games.....not 10.

And we all know November and Dec. matter more than Sept., so it could have a silver lining. If the 3 games off mean he will be more fresh come crunch time, then maybe this turns out well.

Is there a link to the crime and punishment rules in the NFL? The comish can do what he wishes.

He's a 2x injured player and a suspended player. RB's are very replaceable. A performance-based contract with a very low base salary is what I hope the Steelers offer.

Bell apologizes for suspension, says he hasn't smoked since 2014

Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le'Veon Bell apologized to his fans in a video posted to Twitter, after his four-game suspension was reduced to three games on Friday.

Bell was suspended for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy, and his initial sanction was reportedly for missing drug tests. However, Bell said he never purposely missed or failed any drug tests.

The star running back also said he hasn't smoked marijuana since December 2014.

Bell promised he'll be a better person as the result of the suspension. DeAngelo Williams is expected to start at running back in his absence.

That said...when he returns I sure hope he's incredible. He was last year until he was injured. Maybe this year he misses 3 games early, but gives us a huge return and well into the playoffs.
