Barkley declares for NFL Draft

So much for the allure of dear old State.

It's a shame -- the team will still have a good shot at making the playoff next year; with Barkley, they would have had a good chance of winning it all.

I love how these guys talk about how much their teammates mean to them, how great the campus is, how much they adore the fans, etc.,etc....then they leave school as soon as they possibly can. I hope Cleveland does draft Barkley, and his millions can comfort him when he's miserable.

Secondly, Faulk was one of four or five players drastically overhyped that year... best top of draft ever type of overhype... iirc he was the only that wasn't at best a pug...

Thirdly drafting Faulk was pretty useless for Indy... he had statistical success, but they didn't win with him
They were 8-8 his first year
They went 9-7 his second year and lost in the afc cg, but that was the cardiac kid luck run...
He was hurt his third year and while they made the playoffs, he played hurt most of tge season and had a 3 ypc for 500some yards and the lowest ypc of his early career...
the next two years were 3-13 atrocities, then they traded him for a second and fifth round pick...

Faulk didn't really do for the colts what he did for tge Rams....


Im sure Barkly will be a good RB, maybe a great one.... but we have seen more dynamic and more accomplished college RBs fail miserably at the next level so frequently that its wise to never draft one that high unless you have expendable picks

Mmmmmm, yeah Faulk kinda did do with the Colts the same thing he did for the Rams, just the Rams had a WAY better offense. Faulk was still a special player and a generational talent.
Besides year three in which he was hurt, as you mention above, in EACH of the other four years in Indy, Faulk had :

over 1000 yards rushing
over 50 receptions
over 450 yards receiving
over 1500 yards from scrimmage
over 7 total TDs

In his final year in Indy1998 :

over 1300 rush yard
86 receptions
over 900 receiving yards
over 2200 yards from scrimmage
10 total TDs

And in every year Faulk was in Indy, he was the ONLY thing on offense.
While Manning was the QB in Faulk's final year, it was Manning's rookie season ( although it was a vast improvement from Harbaugh ).
Indy's defense was decently solid in those years, though.
