The Steelers were close to the bottom of the league in rushing last year and I think it has almost everything to do with the Backs we have. Not sure why we haven’t added a power back in free agency and are not seeing much talk in mock drafts. Maybe it’s due to a lack of available talent, but I think we will see a repeat of last year if nothing happens to greatly improve the group in the backfield. Conner is not a 3-down back and will likely be hurt again if used too much. I, for one, think we should grab CJ Anderson now... thoughts?

I dont think it has to do with who was in the backfield as much as it has to do with who we have at qb. And who we had as receivers

I don't think that the running game is a priority with this coaching staff. The game is evolving towards more scoring, faster scoring, air it out type football. the old 3 yards and a cloud of dust type game went out with "Fran the Man"......( remember him ? ) Here's a little trip back into the past.

Football fans in the 1950s never knew when they chanted "Hey diddle diddle, Rogel up the middle" they were describing more than a favorite play in the Steelers' arsenal......(Rogel died of Parkinson's disease at age 74 on June 3, 2002, in Richland, Pennsylvania.)

I think that the pressure to appease AB last year may have added to the mix too. It would be nice to see a complete team effort and a balanced effort on offense once again. Ben would benefit from it fur shur.

I would definitely be drafting an RB but not til the middle rounds after we address ILB, WR, TE, and maybe OT for depth?.

It has NOTHING to do with the backs we have. It has to do with the lack of using the running game. Our backs put up great numbers running and receiving when in the game. The only reason the season numbers weren't better was because we had 4+ games where we basically didn't run the ball from the 1st snap. That was the game plan for some odd reason as the running game and the passes to Conner were working great.

Conner hd more YPC last year than Bell did the year before. You can't just look at total yards.

Attempts are way down and not for the better good. Ben is one of the best play action passers of this era and yet we refuse to utilize this aspect of our passing game.

A healthy backfield would be more than productive. They abandoned the run late in the season and the thin backfield did not help issues.

either sign tj yeldon or draft Ohio St RB Weber or Michigan Higdon.

With the meMEME TWINS GONE I THINK BALL DIStribution will be much better balanced. BEN was and is NOT the problem. You will see that this coming season. On FIRE

Yeah, and everyone could see Conner had lost his edge. They abandoned the run simply because Conner had clearly lost his confidence as the season wore on.

Conner lost his edge when he got injured and his injury was more than they let onto. What team where you watching////?????

No, it started before the injury....Not downing the dude, but the stage got a little to big for him for a moment there

We will draft a late round rb, like Mike Weber or maybe Benny Snell.

We do need a short yardage back to rest Conner

cant huret to have a guy like yeldon or higdon they both would be huge upgraves over ridley.
yeldon could bring that screen versatility that bell and parker gave us, yeldon easily turned 3 and longs into 1st with great vision and cuts.

Conner didn't lose any edge. He played great in the games they used him. Then, he got injured. He had 2 or 3 great games to start the season and then he wasn't in the game plan for 2 or 3 games. It made no sense. He didn't play the last several games because of his injury.

When your defense can't keep the other team out of the End Zone, priorities shift to scoring fast.

I'd be looking at Miles Sanders or Benny Snell from Kentucky. Snell runs with a chip on his shoulder. His team had no passing attack at all and he was still an awesome runner in the SEC with 8 in the box. Refuses to go down on the first hit.
