By Jessica Costello SteelerNation.com The Pittsburgh Steelers are preparing for their third preseason game Sunday night at the Tennessee Titans, where fans will most likely see the veterans take the field. The “dress rehearsal” for the regular-season opener will most likely star players such as Ben Roethlisberger, David DeCastro and Maurkice Pouncey. This will most […]

play ben 2-3 series to shake some rust off

Nice little read Jessica, thank you.

It will be nice to see a little more accurate as to where we are at. I hope BEN plays at least a full quarter and then some (needs rust knocked off). I want toi get a feel of the coaching in game decisions and see if "red" flag new coach is helping. ALSO I've been hard on Danny bubbles cheeks, so STs is another thing I'm looking at closely.

Salute the nation

I’d like to see Ben play the first quarter. Him not playing in the pre season sets us back with slow starts every year. And this year with new faces in the lineup, the timing won’t be there. Hell he can go down the first quarter of the first regular season game. There’s no guarantee with anything. I would have liked to see Ben play a few series against the Chiefs as well.

Yeah I don't want it to be the team is sucking in the first game due to that rusty chain. Break that chain and give Big Ben a few more reps. Whether it is one or two series...

Not sure one or two series is going to do much of anything as far as knocking off rust or building chemistry with virtually a new group of wide receivers(Juju being the exception). Ben hasn't taken a live snap yet with this group. Would like to see the starters get the entire first half or at least until the Titans starters come out, give Ben and the receivers a chance to get in sync. The offense can't afford to start out like they did in Cleveland last year. I know it's the first game but we're playing the cheats for Christ's sake, it could have a lot of implications as far as playoff seeding at the end of the year.

Well he has already put work in with the new WRs. Off-season,mini camp, and training camp. But by playing him more leading up to the first game it can do nothing but sharpen the iron. It is just a matter of increased repetition that shakes whatever rust might be and further getting on the same page with two new WRs.

I just don't want to see a repeat of last year's opener with five turnovers. I doubt they'll even be able to afford 2 this time around. Seems most other teams starting quarterbacks have already seen some game action this preseason( barring injuries).
