Ask yourself this

Again put the cheating allegations aside. If you really look closely I think you would find that the coach Belichek most closely resembles is Noll. Total no nonsense, no ra ra, even to the point of seeming aloof to the players, team is incredibly fundamentaly sound, force the opponent to overextend and make the mistakes. Total tactician.

Not to be a Debby Downer here but the vitriol against Belicheat cheating sometimes confuses me. I get it....he cheats and it's not fair....BUT. All through out my life I have seen the same principles lauded and even encouraged. Despicable..yes but also predictable.

When I spent long hours at the drag strip, the emphasis was on hiding horsepower and loosing weight. Both were illegal and commonly practiced by just about everyone...that was winning, that is.

When I ran a distribution center, the emphasis was on delivering truck loads of merchandise to the stores efficiently. My VP offen asked me how many overweight tickets I got that month. The premise being, if you aren't pushing the limits, you're not trying.

How often do we see NASCAR teams paying fines, baseball players had to submit bats for x-rays....well you get the point.

Is cheating despicable...yes, but it is also not as bad as getting caught. That was Belicheat's biggest crime....getting caught. There are a whole passel of folks out there as bad or worsr than him, they just ain't a been caught...yet.

Is it good for you to be good? The jury seems to still be out.

My point is that most of us are hemmed in by restrictions—real, imagined, social, economic, legal—that the most daring learn to ignore My blogpost was double-edged. On the one hand, I was regretting the tendency for those in power to cheat and to cut corners the rest of us observe; on the other, I was encouraging people to be bolder and to take more chances in order to realize their potential more fully

Sorry dude but a lot of people here have morals. That is part of what pulls fans towards the STEELERS as didn't they turn themselves in for over the cap issues??? What has the cheaters ever turned themselves in for??? I would bet if our coach was cheating as much as billie boy there would be some very loud noise made and OUR front office would also stand up and put an end to it. A coach such as billicheat would never be the STEELERS head coach. Not even a chance. If that ever happened some here would want to kick him in balls, I'd have to punch him in the face as I wouldn't want to give Omar a black eye.

Oh yeah, **** THE PATS*

Fixed your post for you.

the thing is that you CAN'T put the cheating aside (and is not an allegation, proven twice) so this conversation is futile. You can't be out on the street and look at a girl with a nice rack but rotten ******* teeth and ugly face and say, well I'll take the boobs and put the rest aside. (Technically you can, just put a bag on her face but that's just sick)

I just hope the Steelers dont have this attitude. Well he aint that good he just cheats. Im kinda hoping they are dissecting what they do and trying to beat them.

I hate them as much as anyone. But chalking it all up to cheating is delusional. Hope the team doesnt have this mentality or they are the 70s 80s Raiders.

Nobody is chalking it all up to cheating. But it gives a solid team a edge to greatness if you are constantly cheating.

I firmly believe Billacheat should have been banned from the NFL after spygate.

If it was bad enough to burn tapes it was pretty ******* bad.

Cat got sneakier at doing it, and until someone lie detectors him. I am not giving him the benefit of the doubt.

Regardless a team has to prepare extra hard against a team that has a unfair advantage.

Really doesn't matter the teams mentality in regards to it.

They have to go out and still make plays and still score more than them.

Nothing changes , although the Steelers would be wise to secretly work on some signals that nobody is aware of. And keep them under lock and key.

Unit by unit the Steelers have superior talent across the board. With the exception of qb, dbs and coaching.

The Steelers would never lose a game with Belicheat as HC. Offensive talent depth is arguably better than the Pats*****, defense is probably at least as good and maybe slightly better. Deficiencies in the secondary would not be as big a deal because they will know what play is coming and where to go.

I've said before, I hate that cheating ************ but take away the cheating and he still runs a well-coached team that plays good fundamentals and makes very few mistakes. As opposed to a Shades' team that makes a lot of mistakes, people frequently out of position, and can't seem to get up to beat bad teams on the road.

With Hoodie at the helm, I'd agree with this

Lol. The Raiders accused the Steelers of freezing the field.
When it's cold as can be outside. Watching old interviews of the 70's Raiders, they could ball, but they were dumb as a bag of rocks

Well said

Well, I strongly disagree. Steeler fans would fall in line just like the Pats fans do. But, if that is how you feel. then I guess the Championships in the 70's are tainted. there was said to be a lot of steroid use on those teams. and while I believe it was legal back then or not much none about them. it still doesn't change the fact that it gave them a big advantage. God only knows how many times I've had it threw in my face from other fans. And for the record, I hate the Pats, Belicheat, and Brady.

this guy must be a young Steelers fan. Because his slam on the Steelers sounds like many conversations I have had with young cheatriot fans. Difference is you are a Steelers fan, who seems to lack the pulse of the nation and knowledge of history.

This has been said a gazillion times

but steroids were used by many in that era and were legal at the time.

So the only thing tainted BBR is your knowledge of the game and your viewpoint.

Which you are in minority and I strongly disagree with your ignorance.

I say ignorance because a uneducated fan is a ignorant fan.

Cheating implies an unfair advantage and rule breaking. In the 70's steroids were legal, almost all linemen were doing them, therefore it was not cheating or otherwise an unfair advantage.
What Belicheat got busted for in Spygate was that the year before he was warned to stop taping opposing teams' signals. At one time it was legal to do that, Belicheat kept doing it, was warned to stop, he didn't, and was caught a second time.

I don't think anybody here is "chalking it all up to cheating". I just want to know what percentage of winning was done by Honest Abe and what percentage of winning was done by the CHEATIONG MUTHER ******???? The point I'm trying to make is how does anyone give accolades to a proven cheater? He should be banned for life. The spygate punishment states ban for life if ever caught cheating again. Imeadiately he distanced himself from t*mmy b*y deflategate. Ask Shawn Payton SAINTS coach about punishment even though he knew nothing of the crime........... Why waqsn't Billie held accountable??? AGAIN just saying a cheater is a cheater and should receive NO praise of anykind. **** the CHEATRIOTS and their entire organization.

Cheating ten years ago or not,
Look at it this way.
What odds would you give Tomlin to win a superbowl with the Patriots after Gronk getting hurt and trading away their best linebacker in Chandler Jones?
I say give Tomlin James white, Legarette Blount, Edelman and Chris Hogan.
He wouldn't win a game. Let alone the superbowl.

He won games with Issac Redman as the RB.

Now we are getting to the crux of the problem. Cheating is a part of life, ask Burgundy about competitive advantages for cheaters in business. (Actually there are a lot of others on here that already know, I'm sure)

DIC.... Why waqsn't Billie held accountable???
slash....I firmly believe Billacheat should have been banned from the NFL after spygate.

If the punishment ( or lack of it) does not alter the behavior, then the behavior will continue. Severe punishment, think capital punishmentt, has been deemed barbaric in modern society, so the behavior that needs addressed gets marginalized.

You want to stop the cheating, make the punishment such that it's not worth the risk.

If cheating only gives the Pats***** a 10% advantage in every game that can often be the margin between winning and losing. There's a lot more going on though. Again, they are a well-coached team that makes very few mistakes. They have a deadly accurate QB who has the ability to play while getting instructions through his earpiece. They have a TE who is unstoppable when he's not injured. They play in a division so bad that winning it by a comfortable margin and getting a playoff bye week every year is a given.

You don't even have to cheat for a whole game. A couple of key plays here and there, can kill a team. 3rd and 8, passing down. You KNOW the D, not suspect, KNOW. Changes a possible 3rd down conversion to a highly likely one, or, maybe, even better. Opposite for the other team. You can shut them down on a key play.
