Ask Drunk Hoot.

Football guys, (Hoot, I know you're one, but you're drunk...) what changed from the 1st half to the 2nd schematically that got Ben off and running (so to speak) in the passing game?

Sadly, I am not that shitfaced...yet. This is a really good question and will have to go back and watch the tape (admitedly, I have not paid for that privileged yet this year). Knee jerk reaction is not so much a schematic change as much as Ben and Co. finding a rhythm and executing on mid range stuff (which opens the run game a bit). Turning point was the Dupree Pressure that lead to the Cam INT in the EZ. I kinda think that deflated the Gman a little bit and we just quietly executed fundamental football. I give credit to DJ for finishing strong after a rough start.

I have no idea. I looked her up on the INternet and got:

I'm not a knowledgeable guy but I think getting hit actually shook off the rust on Ben, once the initial fear was faced and surpassed the talent appeared

Good answer Hoot. DJ's yips did slow Ben's ability to extend drives. He hit his rhythm on the 2min warning at the end of the half. After that, we had a different ben (aside from the 3 and out to start the half). Definitely had the jitters early as well. He settled down, and receivers made some great plays for him. Washington's TD was shades of Hines Ward. Loved that play and thus far IMHO, it's the signature play of his career.

Was a multifactorial BigBen situation.I think it was a combination of shaking off the rust, getting back on the bike so to speak. He could do that 2 minute drill in his sleep which helped gain rhythm with the wideouts and confidence. His supporting cast is working their way to a lesser degree with a decent amount new to the scheme and Ben.
