Ask Drunk Cope 11/14

I believe Bostic will quitely go down as a very good free agent pick up .. your thoughts?

If you saw last game, he led the team in tackles with 10. He's a run stopper. The front office said: "Stop the run". What did they do? Fired all the safeties, drafted and brought in 3 new position players. We ran a 3-4 for the majority of the game against Carolina (since we viewed them as a run first team), and it worked. JAX is the same. They are a run first team. I'd expect more 3-4 sets, which means more Bostic. Love the pickup, and he is playing well. Not as much of a splash player, but he's solid as hell.

I’ll give that a 100%. Dude is full force/energy every play. While he is out of position from time to time and asked to cover when he would be better suited to rush..solid FA pick up

That's the problem with zone. From time to time, LBs will have to cover in their short zones. It's football, it's not perfection, but more often than not, the 3-4 alignment appears to do well against running teams.

Hilarious! But I prefer dainty, not hipster. Love the baby arms though!! Awesome!!!

Big Ben the best Steelers qb of all time?

Yes. No question. And I'm a huge Bradshaw fan. But Bradshaw had an all star team on O and D. He was at his best his last 2 Super Bowls when the rules changed to advance passing, but I think Ben would excel in the 70s.

I can understand the argument of 4 SBs vs 2 for Ben (though he made it to 3). But no way does Bradshaw win a Superbowl behind that 2008 dogshit offensive line. In fact, I don't think any other QB would be able to win a SB behind that line. Ben is special.

Agreed. Have loved Bradshaw since a kid. But he is not in the same class as Ben

Sorry for being late to the party but I've read completely through the thread and it's chalked full of information and well versed materials. Last thought or question for when you wake up..............................................

1.). With all things being equal, money / team standings / etc but one team had a BAECON bonus written in the contract do you think BELL would be drawn to that team.

2.). Do you think BELL has a "under table" agreement or attraction to a specific team. NOT just a personal liking but actual near agreed upon terms for hire once all the dust has settled???? Like a preferred because of (allready talks) a shared commitment??

3>0 Cope thanks for these "educational" DRUNK COPE's

Drinking myself now. Got a fifth of Jack tonight.

That's a sipping whiskey. A tasty one at that!

Is that meant to be BACON? If so, yes. Fatty likes bacon!

Well his agent can speak with teams, but they can't make agreements. I don't think teams would even engage in talks until after the Super Bowl. It just doesn't make much sense to do so now, and there is a month between the SB and the start of FA. Plenty of time to work out a possible contract offer.

Another reason why teams won't reach out yet: The don't know if the Steelers are going to tag them again. You also have teams hiring/firing coaches/ GMs, so that transition time to get new people in place, to see if he fits your system is a factor as well. Wait til Feb/March, and they'll get it done.

Funny thing living in Baltimore, the fans and talk radio hosts are howling to get Bell. They think he'd be their savior. I'd love for him to go there. And get his *** kicked twice a year by the defending super bowl champions!

FYI, I finished my fruited beer night with a double shot sipping session of my birthday present: Isaac Bowman's Pioneer Spirit Port Barrel Finished. It's a small batch Copper Distilled Bourbon.

SNOW DAY!!

I actually had to work this morning but I'm back. Roads are crap here in Maryland. Already have Flap Jack Maple Stout and a Mad Elf from Troegs in me. Looks like a reprise for drunk Cope. Cars are cleaned off, I dug out all the sidewalks, took care of my 80yr old neighbor's car, and sidewalk, showered up, started a fire, and it's time to relax!!

Any questions tonight??

Celsius? It already happened! True Zero in fahrenheit is usually in February, I'd say the 8th.

He's been getting upwards of 30 touches. Some games will merit that, but I'd like to keep him in the 20-25 touch range moving forward. It will keep Ridley and Samuels sharp as well. All good things to spread the wealth at RB. I also think, since he had a concussion, they will limit his snaps closer to 20 this week.

2.) Will we see Landry Jones at some point in the game>??

Only if Bortles is destroyed by Watt or Dupree

3.) Will WKRP in Cincinnati ever make a come back??

I hope not. I hate remakes. Radio is a dying medium, and doesn't carry the excitement it once did. Plus that cast was perfect.
Any reboot would have kids overacting. Man was that show a classic! The perfect show at the perfect time!

4.) How will Al Bundy end his football career??

With 5 TDs in the state championship for Polk High!!

Have a great evening Cope and looking forward to full answer.....................................

No I haven't had the Celebration ale from Sierra Nevada yet. How is it? What is the Style? A Winter Warmer?

And Yes I always do a prediction at the end of the podcast with Brad. My call this week was 35-13 good guys! I try and match the score prediction that I do on the weekly prediction thread as well.

What’s the over/under Marvin keeps his job after this season?

Bonus question, what’s the chances of Marvin getting the Cleveland job if canned and Jackson taking over in Cincinnati (tongue in cheek of course).

Before the bunghole brought in Hue, id say he was getting fired for sure, but now Mike Cheapskate Brown can get a free year out of hue as a special assistant and let Lewis play DC for a while then retire after next year...thats the scenario that I expect...

To tell you the truth Ike, I'm surprised he still has a job. It was really weird 2 years ago. It was like, we're firing Marvin, then after the last game, they were like, we're keeping Marvin. Really weird stuff. If they finish 2nd in the North, he'll keep his job. If he finishes 3rd, he's on the hot seat, and 4th gets him the axe.

If he's canned, I don't think the Browns will go for him. But I do think the browns will take Harbaugh if he's **** canned. I'm a minority here, but Harbaugh knows how to play the Steelers and has a SB under his belt, so any success in that building would be the first. I also think Harbaugh is enough of a strong personality to change the culture there. Hugh was a *****. Though I do also like Gregg Williams. If they finish above 500, he's probably going to be retained as the HC.
