Artie BURNT officially demoted

Wonder if the absence of Mitchell and playing with rookie Edmunds hurt him. Maybe he isn't mature enough yet. He has the physical skills.

Do you prefer Ramsey or Peterson?

There won't be a trade for either of them from our FO, they just don't do business that way. We will sign a UFA or draft another DB. Maybe someone like Darby coming off an ACL repair will be affordable.

I'd make the move for Ramsey. He's got rare skills. But I agree, drafting a corner makes sense in rounds 2 or 3. AThree down ILB with speed who can play the run or pass to me is the primary need.

2 ) Howard was still there for us if we traded down in round one.

Unless it was the very next spot, you have know idea if this would have been true. This is 100% hindsight.

Wrong, Howard was taken in ROUND TWO. We could have him with the trade down in swap pick offer in round one.

Now you know that little things like hindsight and speculation never stop Coach from stating something as fact.

R1 I'm drafting a starting LG to replace Ramon Foster. Late round 1 guards are a perfect spot to get an almost guaranteed starter on the OL. We've done very well here with our picks on the OL.
I'm looking to the scrap heap for any UFA ILB and DB and drafting those core areas we can lock down relatively easily.

They won't be trading for Ramsey any time soon.

Coach you are not a supreme draft-nick get over yourself.

Youtube highlights doesn't qualify you as expert.

So, yeah, you just described hindsight. Listen slowly...On the day and at the time the trade would have been made, no one knew who was going to go where. AT THAT TIME, howard might have gone in the next slot, or the next or the next. No one knew the future.

We know it how because it is.....wait for it...the past.

Even demoted , Burns has not made headway , As a number one he IS a bust. Burns has no upside as predicted by the ones who drafted him.

Doing a mock draft in hindsight is all cute and pretty but no one really knows how each player is going to turn out besides some of the elite players who are can't miss. The team thought they had something and they got Burnt. We will be drafting or signing a DB next offseason for sure.

But it will be some ham and egger in free agency. It will be a bargain bin player, per usual. It will be akin to picking out of the bargain bin DVD section at Target, like "Gigli" or "Glitter." And we will be in the same place as usual: dying that we have a hole in the D that was never addressed well enough to fix it.

No, no, no, no, no. One of the main reasons given for drafting him was BECAUSE he was so mature, having to raise his siblings. No way should immaturity be a reason why he sucks.

And to think Colbert acted all smug when he drafted him, like he was the smartest guy ever to draft.

Burns by all accounts is a good guy with a lot of personal “life” on his plate that wasn’t expected. Especially for his age.

Hope he can get his bearings and come back strong.

You're mistaking "maturity" as a person with "maturity" as a football player. It's a common mistake made by fans who, albeit delusionally, believe that the two things are intertwined. It's possible that Artie is a very mature individual off the field, yet not quite as mature on the field as he needs to be; i.e. situationally aware, technique sound, etc.

Same here. And yeah he has A LOT on his plate. He's raising his son and younger family without the help of a mother or father.

Well said. He has to have a maturity level beyond his actual age because of the incredible amount of responsibility he has in raising his younger brothers and son. On the field, I notice a lack of awareness and professionalism (the helmet removal just one example) and I hope he can get better at that. Problem is, he's 3 years in now and the benching isn't going to do him any favors. Hope the best for the young man.

Acted all smug? Where the **** do you get this nonsense? And Colbert's had enough misses that he knows he's not the smartest guy ever to draft but he's hit a lot more than he's missed. If they did a consensus around the league, I guarantee he'd be near the top of a "Best GM" list.

I'm excited for Turkey and mashed potatoes tomorrow. I'm going to eat so much, I'll fall asleep during the 2nd QTR of the Dallas game!

So what the Steelers made a couple bad first round picks. Like we’re the only team in the NFL that occasionally
***** up a number one. To the experts out there like our resident Coach, every team including the Saint Pats manage to screw up no one picks. But for every Burns and Uncle Jarvis there’s a Mike Hilton and Antonio Brown, or Big Al Vil.

I hate to keep bringing this up, as I'm well aware that every situation is different. But Ike was benched in his third year as well. It's how he responds to this benching that will be the story. Ike buckled down, put in the work, and became one of the best CB's we've had. Does Artie do the same? From all the things I've read and seen about him and his work ethic, I think he definitely takes this seriously and puts in the work... I'm still not ready to write him off as so many on this board constantly do with our players.
