Art Rooney II Releases Statement

If they were to burn flags I'd even turn away.
Sad how a legendary game has turned into a shitfest

I would too for good. I'm just being over the top. I just want this stuff to end. They've already messed the game up enough with the rules of engagement. A good 42 years of watching and I'm hanging by a thread now.

This whole thing this past sunday. The steelers didn't need to do anything. Steelers never had anyone kneel before. Trump wasn't talking to any of them. But they chose to stay in the locker room and make it political about them. That's what bugs me anyway. (forget what decision the PLAYERS made) Anything other than business as usual,, was to me wrong.

I agree with what your saying, but Trumps comments pissed a lot of people off. I guarantee a few Steelers would have been kneeling on Sunday. Ideally they should have stood arm in arm to show unity. Now they created a cluster ****

Me too. Over 40 years and I don't see the game we watched back then. But we could not be more lucky, seeing the Steelers win all six superbowls!! But now they have to do something cause I don't even watch Monday night football or Thursday unless it's the Steelers. I use to watch both.

That's not a legit question because the NFL is not a regular business, It's a cartel. Without the players you have no business. If it was any other business you just fire the employees and get a new bunch, can't do that here. So of course the players have input, add to that the fact that over 60% of the players are African-American and you have to be sensitive to the situation.

The statement Trump made about SOB's was a racist statement that's why the owners have to be sensitive, make no mistake. When the so called by this president "anti-American people" are people of color, they are SOB's. When they are white Neo-Nazis running over innocent people with cars then some of them are "fine people." This president is a racist...again make no mistake.

That is not the only thing at play nor is it the most important thing. Money is the most important, and Shannon Sharpe nails it in this video. When Trump was scapegoating hispanics just like the Nazi propaganda in Germany circa 1930 used to do to the Jews, it wasn't a problem for them. When he insulted women and showed what a sexist he is, not a problem. When he insulted the Khan family, (a gold star family) in a true anti-American act.....not a problem.

Now as Sharpe says their "conscious" is suddenly moved, what a joke. Thank God the Rooneys are Democrats, they can sleep well at night knowing they didn't give a dime to the racist turd destroying our country from the White House.

Trump was in the public eye for over 30 years and comes out of NYC, one of the most diverse cities in the world and not once was he ever accused of being a racist. In fact Jesse Jackson praised him for his race relations in the '90's. Trump maybe overly direct, even crass, but he is not a racist, which has become the standard smear of leftists like yourself on anyone you disagree with. You hate Trump - fine. But don't make up crap with tired, old names to justify your beliefs. You've watered down the term that it really has no meaning anymore.

Oh, and the Charlottesville comment about "fine people", was directed to a regular group of people who were there to stop anti-fa from tearing down a confederate statue. They were not neo nazis or white supremacists and we're not part of the group that was responsible for killing that girl, so be honest here. Anti-fa has become more violent than the neo-nazis. So hate Trump all you want, but keep it real man.

Some Presidents didn't mind when you were down on your knees. LOL

Conservative talk show host Rose Tennent replied to Rooney and his explanation of "wanting to avoid a political statement"

She said, “Dear Mr. Rooney: Taking the field and standing for the anthem is how you avoid making a political statement. Standing for the anthem is not a political statement. And we refuse to have it turned into one by those who are actually making a political statement by not doing it.”

The point was that some players wanted to kneel, but they didn't want to break from the team to do it. So they all tried to remove themselves from the equation. I don't see what is so ******* hard to understand about this. But this is the **** people want to be upset about. We've all been to games, half of the boneheads in the stands are on their phones, talking, guzzling beer and paying **** all attention to the anthem. The false rage over this junk is the biggest crock of horseshit I've seen in quite some time. But yeah, the real problem today is "Dem der football players!" Certainly there aren't any pressing matters for a commander in chief to be taking care of, nope, not at all. Christ, this country is ******.

America agrees with Trump: New poll reveals 58% think 'professional athletes should be req. to stand'

The majority of Americans say professional athletes 'should be required to stand during the anthem at sporting events', a new poll has revealed. The September 25-26 exclusive Reuters/Ipsos opinion poll found that 58 per cent of those quizzed think athletes should stand and observe the national anthem, agreeing with President Donald Trump.

The Reuters/Ipsos poll was conducted online in English throughout the United States. It gathered responses from 1,622 people, including 628 Democrats, 583 Republicans and 919 people who watched a football game at least a few times during the season.

-----------------------------------------

So really it was more like 70% of Americans thought they should stand

78% Steeler fans didn't like the protest per poll.

But it is all done now.

I think the fans need to move past this. I mean take whatever stance you want but move past it.

I have a plan in place for their bullshit on TV, and really have moved past this all.

how may people were in the poll? 78% is a big number.
