Art II Meets with the Pgh. Media

Does AR2 meet with the media weekly now? I’ve never heard his father talk as much as he does. Some of the answers he’s give are pretty bad too IMO. I’m starting to wonder if he is in over his head.

No wonder Tomlin is so comfortable with his terrible decision making because the owner thinks his decision are quality ones. Between the comment about bringing Bud back and never thinking Le’Veon wouldn’t show up... I think the problem may truly start at the top.

When Mr Rooney addressed the question that the Steelers were a circus he has no idea how that is. Rooney needs to see the Tweets of Bell, now Brown and Harrison. Mr. Rooney needs to read reaction on this forum as well football talk, he would get the reality check he is missing, not only on Brown but Tomlin and this defense.

Joe Starkey has a good article in today’s P-G pointing out the absurdity of Rooney’s assertion. Maybe the Pittsburgh media had been critical of Dan Rooney sometime in the past, but I don’t recall it.

I suspect that Rooney is not a fan, just an owner. The income statement looks good, everything else is largely insignificant. The networks like to show Jerrry Jones and Bob Kraft celebrating, high-fiving their teams during games, I don’t recall ever seeing Rooney be anything more than stoic. I don’t think the on-field product is of very much interest to him. As far as the tweets, he probably considers it tabloid-type news and doesn’t pay much attention to that either.

If they trade AB, there will be no "diva" in the locker room.

Tomlin's scapegoats are gone. No more excuses

Oh yeah, one left, they will all blame Ben, lol

With all the bad publicity surrounding the team, he doesn't understand the team being seen as a circus? What is the last good news we have heard from the team that didn't include internal problems, contract problems, coaching problems and discipline problems? You have retired players, past players and current players in the news everyday going at it. It's not a healthy atmosphere

I don't know about that. I think Kraft and Jones are about the income, that's why they're celebrating, they know wins equal dollars. To Art this is his family business, when you think Steelers you think Rooney's and vice versa. I don't agree with everything he's doing, but I'll never question his passion for this team.
He's not going to flat out say, yeah we've had people calling asking for trades for AB, or no Bell is gone.

Art2 has always had a end of season with local media a couple weeks after their last game. He’s been doing it since 2003, when Dan passed the President Title and day to day operations to him. When Dan became ambassador Art also was handling the various NFL committees Dan was a part of. He eventually took over permanently when Dan ambassadorship ended and became Chairman Emeritus of the club. So Art2 definitely isn’t “over his head”, he was running the club during their last three SB appearances. So he has a good idea as to what he is doing.

Art2 also has always been even keeled, like Dan. He’s an attorney, so he never panics professionally, the same way his dad never did. Unless you count the arguments Dan had with Al Davis.

Finally, as all good businessmen he doesn’t get trapped into the media spin of opinion pieces. Doesn’t pay attention to the talking heads and don’t recognize social media as the de facto alignment of the masses.

How have many forgotten Chin was perceived as out back during the late 90s/early Y2K when the club was middling. Dan, didn’t make knee jerk decisions stuck by Cowher. Even choosing him over longtime friend Donahoe when it was obvious the two couldn’t work together. Things worked out well then. Folks said the “Rooney Way” was obsolete then, but still allowed 2 more championships.

Folks need to calm down. AB/Bell issues will be resolved and the team will go on. Most definitely without both of them IMO.

They should take all the **** out of AB's locker and divvy it up.

LOL, I would take it out and burn it...don't want whatever is in it to be contagious.

Wouldn't it be weird if the Steelers resign Bell and AB doesn't get traded?

If this happens, I may have to declare myself a Free Agent fan and look to sign on with another team. I am not a psychological fit with the Kardashian-types.

I think through the generation handing down of the Steelers, the drive to win has been lost. I'm betting the Rooney family looks at the Steeler's far more as a business than a team. As long as the seats are full and merchandise sells, it's all good. My problem is that I have been a fan since the 70's and can well remember what those days were like. The antics of the past 2 years piss me off more than I can describe. I'll never jump ship but this team's image is getting harder to associate with. I'd love to see Ron Burkle buy this team.

Ron Burkle is just the money guy, Mario is the guy that drives that team. You'd still have idiots, football players are coddled put on a pedestal from Jr. High which is why the become self entitled asshats. I graduated with 100 kids in highschool, a single A school where the best to hope for was a winning record and the football players there were allowed to skip gym class and do homework so they didn't get hurt, or they'd say they were injured so they could skip and do homework.

Burkle has a higher involvement than many think. Wish I could find the old link with some of his quotes back when the Pens acquired Hossa. Point being he likes his name associated with quality and winning. I do agree that NHL players and NFL players are different animals.

Art let's his employees run the team. It was Tomlins decision on whether to pay AB for the Cincy game.
Art and his dad up until he passed, they are in the building every day, they stand in line with the players, trainers, etc for lunch. They could go right to the front or have someone bring them lunch, but they don't they wait in line with everyone else. I'd definitely never say he doesn't care.
Let's just hope this is just a rough season and it gets turned around in the off-season.
