Are the Chiefs now are target location for Bell?

Actually this could get interesting? If Steelers tag and Bell gets a Gurley type contract, 60 million over 4 years with 20 mil as signing bonus.
I believe Steelers would have to pay the 20 mil bonus, but then they would have Bell to trade and the receiving team would only pay Bell
40 mil over 4 years, 10 mil per year. How much is Bell then worth in a trade? At least a 1st and another high pick.

The Steelers would have to be willing to pay 20 mil or more to acquire 2 high draft picks. Most likely 1 in 2019 and 1 in 2020.
The Steelers might not think that 20 mil is too high a price, since 14.5 was Bell's salary saved from last year.

I was under the understanding if he was traded immediately they wouldn't have to pay the signing bonus.

An offer sheet on a transition tag is already signed by the player, if you match I am pretty sure the signing bonus is due immediately before
a player could be traded. Steelers would have to eat a lot of dead money to get draft picks, but Bell would become more valuable because the
receiving team would not have to pay the signing bonus. They would get Bell at a discount and would have to pay in draft picks to get him.
A team could put a poison pill in offer sheet like an extremely high signing bonus to keep Steelers from matching.

Paying 20 million plus to get a first rounder and maybe another pick is not how the Rooney's operate. If Bell is trans tagged they are merely risking his market value (offer he accepts) ends up closer to their number than Bell's and then they will decide if he stays or goes, but on no planet do they drop 20M+ for a pick or too.

If they trade Brown, that is exactly what they will be doing. Getting a pick or two for 20 million plus.

Screw Bell, let him go, and I believe we get a 3rd round comp pick.

only if the Steelers don't do what they should be doing and that is signing upgrades.

The 3rd round comp pick is only conditional on whether we sign free agents and offset Bell's contract.

Slash is correct. If he is signed the has to be completed within 24 hours for the bonus to be accrued to the traded team.

And no, he can’t be traded to the team who submitted the offer sheet. The player can’t be traded to that team once the sheet is signed for 12 months.

I really hope the Steelers just move on from Bell all together and don't compound the mismanagement from last season by using the transition tag. I realize hind sight is 20/20, but the Bell debacle from '18 could have very well set the Steelers back a couple years competitively. If they'd have just let him walk last off season, the money allotted to his potentially signing of the franchise tag could have been used to sign more quality D free agents last year and/or resulted in getting a comp pick for the '19 draft. Those details could have led to the D finding cohesiveness sooner than later with additions. Now, at best they get a comp pick for '20 draft and hopefully will acquire some quality free agent for D that will only begin the process of growing with new teammates in '19. To put a transition tag on this POS that will doubtfully to his part to assist the Steelers in max benefit, they risk getting nothing after an already lost '18, as it pertains to adding quality and developing team chemistry with new players. Just awful how all of this worked out.

Bell quickly forgot that the Steelers picked him over a higher touted draft prospect in Eddie Lacy and then stuck with him through his off field transgressions.

One problem with not tagging him is he looks like a perfect fit with the Ravens. Although they don't have a lot of cap space and have players to sign.

Right, but an entirely different situation as Brown is already under contract. To sign Bell and pay him a bunch of bonus $ for a pick is financially not the way the Rooney's operate. They already gave AB the money so now they are trying to recoup (draft equity for loss of player) from what was a financially stupid contract to begin with. AB is now just a cancer they must remove, and hope to get something for in return as they need to remove the cancer prior to 3/17 to save 2.5M. Sign and trade Bell would just be pissing away millions in hopes of a pick...not quite the same scenario as Brown. Though the end result will still equate to pissing away millions for a pick, having their hands tied and likely having to do that once this offseason even furthers my belief that they wouldn't do that with Bell.

No tag today. And for an added bonus, a new Bell photo with what he has been up to. Over to the right you can see the case of joints. No way is that tobacco for whoever is thinking along those lines.IMG_20190219_205220.jpg

Every GM is going to have this picture sitting on the negotiation desk and a press clipping of his drug suspension when he asks for a record-breaking contract.

HOW stupid are these guys???? Don't answer as I already know they are less than negative in the brain catagory. If those aren't HOOCHIE weed then they are tobacco. If tobacco, why is he smoking??? Either way, dumb *** move and what did it give him by posting this **** anyway....... Someone to respond and say awesome dude, you're the best and that someone is probably a free loading "friend". Colbert says Steelers will NOT use the tag on Bell.

So as not to create another Bell thread, I'll just leave this quote from Kevin Colbert here:

“We will not use any tag on Le’Veon Bell,” Colbert said. “The production from that position was pretty good. We can’t afford to use the tags with the other needs we have. And yes, I said needs.”
