It has been reported multiple places that NFL TV ratings have been down significntly this year. Polls are now showing that the player anthem protests is one of those reasons.

Just wondering if anybody who normally would have watched, is planning to skip the game because of Kaepernick.

I am.

The ****** NFL ratings are due to the cumulative effect of all things ******* Goodell has touched.

I will or won't watch this game or any others because of my decision at the moment, not because of any action of any entitled fucktarded athlete.

I can defend his and others rights to free express their thoughts, but also to his employers ability to can his annoying *** for causing lower revenue.

It's football, who gives a **** about all that crap, he's not even playing, Blaine Gabbert took his job - it's always fun to watch Chip implode

I probably won't watch because the teams suck and generally the NFL product becomes harder and harder to watch every year when it's not the Steelers. But Kaepernick protesting doesn't bother me one bit. In fact, the more I see instances of police harassing and murdering people, the more I support CK. He's already said his protest has nothing to do with the military or veterans, so for people to continue to miss the point and insult him just suggests to me that those people do not want to admit or face the issues he is ACTUALLY protesting.

The product went south when they took all of the hitting out and made it all of this endless passing bs. I watch the Steelers. That's about it. My direct tv went out this morning for some odd reason and nobody is coming until after the hurricane anyway.

In the past 5 minutes I have received a direct email and an email notification from Twitter reminding me about the NFL game tonight. I do not follow the NHL on Twitter, nor have I ever subscribed to an email feed from them.

They are desperate for viewers! **** em.

Well then maybe Kap should target his protest to a symbol of police and not of the flag which represents the whole nation. Kap is protesting YOU. Not cops.

Besides, he sounds like a retard when he speaks. He has no idea what he is protesting. I still think his initial "protest" was just him pouting on the sideline and he got caught on camera and asked about it so he made up this protest stuff. Then he had some professional protesters work with him to improve the optics a bit and gave him some talking points to recite.

NFL ratings are down. People watch the NFL for entertainment, not for political statements of a bygone era where the person doing it doesn't have a clue. I actually hope Kapenicnick gets in. The helmet has a flag on it, so maybe he should toss that aside and play without it. This way another player can knock some sense into him.

Stopped playing fantasy this year so don't really care for other games outside of the Steelers. I never realized how much fantasy football interest has had an impact on ratings until I stopped playing myself. Haven't watched a Thursday or Monday night game this season (aside from ours).

I'm not the only one not tuning in anymore either. I read MNF ratings are down 19% from last year so far this season. I think there are many factors including the incessant coverage on protesting...the last thing we need is more political BS coverage, let me watch a dang game with some escape from that crap for a few hours. Seems like the daily fantasy interest peaked last season which could be a reason for the drop. I think people finally realized dreams of winning 6 figures in daily fantasy games are only for the very small minority with computer algorithms. Just my 2 cents.

ALDS Game 1 v Thursday night football.....will probably watch a few minutes of football and then switch to baseball

Football is only 5 months a year. I watch as much as I can. Will be watching.

I normally wouldn't have tuned in, but I'm planning on watching the game because of Kaepernick. More than the game itself, I'm mostly interested in the pre-kickoff activities, including the national anthem. Kudos to him in keeping the conversation going.

I think fantasy is finally ruining football .. gambling addicts only care about their little teams and aren't even interested in football, just their stats, they quit watching

This is why I don't play. I care about the actual teams. Fantasy is so much work and boring.

Totally agree Spike, it's happened with me. While waiting for the Steelers game to come on (or after, if we play an early game), I'll have 4 games on my pc screen and a 5th game on the tv, my eyes darting back and forth tracking my FF guys. It's ******* nuts, I know. If it's not the Steelers, it's tough for me to sit there idly and watch a game, commercials et al. So in a way it's more fun to track fantasy players, but it's also completely neurotic. I was getting some strange looks from my wife and kids.

When the Steelers game is on, all this nonsense comes to a screeching halt. I shut down all the other games and the fantasy app and just sit back and watch the game. It's the only game I actually watch. For me, the NFL has become the Steelers and then 31 other teams with FF players on them.

If he or these other people want to protest then do something useful. Kap was scheduled to speak at a church and cancelled. Why don't these athletes go around donating to inner city schools and preach education and non violence. Just preach respect in general. If you show redirect 99% of the time you will get respect back. Half these people protesting don't even know what they stand for.
As for the game itself I think the commentators in general are horrible. They dont really know the teams and are constantly getting players names wrong or talking about how teams used to be. For example talking about the steelers great defense or how the steelers have you right when they want you in third and long. That was the case like 15 years ago, but the steelers have sucked on third and long last few years. Also i hear how great the steelers are on screens. When did that happen?

I'd be with you if there was an actual conversation but there isn't.

here's the conversation that is going on

Kap - blah blah, disproven talking points
ESPN - oh Kap, you're right, we Americans are horrible people. You're the new Rosa Parks
Fans - can we stick to football?
ESPN - shut up, this is more important because we say so.
Fans - it's disrespectful and aimed at the wrong people
ESPN - shut your white privileged mouth. Your opinion is invalid
Fans - but i thought this was a conversation
ESPN - the conversation does not include you,,,,racist. But please tune in and buy our horrible magazine

Bout time you came around Nitsuj! I don't do Fantasy, because I'm a fanatic. The one year I did fantasy, I rooted for Marshal Faulk to have a good game against the steelers on Monday night. Then I realized I was rooting against my favorite team. So I quit Fantasy in 2001 and never went back.

Since I don't do fantasy, and the Steelers don't play either team, I won't watch the game. But I may tune in for the anthem...
