Antwon Blake

The coaching staff feels he is a better tackler and plays in running downs. He is then replaced on obvious passing downs.

Well, if the 300+ comments to that article are any indication, there are still quite a few fans supporting the decision to continue playing Blake, apparently because "coaches know best."

Given the undying support around here, does this surprise you in any way?

The coaches see the CB's go up against our receivers 5 days a week in practice. My guess is Blake consistently covers better
in those practices than the guys getting less playing time. If Blake is replaced who is to say there wouldn't be more mistakes.
Blake doesn't have the talent to be a starter, so I'm hoping we spent our #1 on next years starter.

Antwon Blake is the ****!

LOL.... Just kidding. Even I was like, "wholly ****, what the hell is wrong with me/" Blake sucks ***. If he can cover our "top tier" line up of receivers during practice then why the hell can't he cover a QB to WR transition player like Pryor? Is Pryor the next Hines Ward, ARE, or AB? Hell NO! I don't believe his practice to game carry over is that terrible. He just sucks! He is a joke and must have some serious dirt on Tomlin.

Is there any chance he's NOT the worst regular starting player in the league this year? Regardless of position..

That may very well be the case, but at what point does one start weighing practice performance against what is shown in actual games on weekly basis?

Blake has essentially been benched at halftime each of the past several games, with the defense performing noticeably better in the second half each time.

Currently reading the transcript from Tomlin's presser today, he basically said they have a strategic rotation at CB when asked about Blake and Cockrell. However, it's hard to determine the strategy behind it, as there has been little semblance of a rotation in recent weeks with Blake playing the entire first half with Cockrell on the sideline and the roles reversed in the second half.

I think his strategy is to play Blake to confirm he STILL sucks *** and then rotate Cockrell back in after the half.

Another board did a worst of 2015 list and Blake was no.3. He also had Bud Dupree on his list, but no one is perfect. Right AB? I mean Antwon Blake.

I must be getting soft or stupid in my old age because I actually have a feeling that Blake will NOT start this week. Last week Boykin played every snap in which the defense went nickel, so I think that means the coaching staff has finally made him the "starting" nickel CB. If we could just start the game with Cockrell and Gay at CB, the odds are the Blake would play very little since Cockrell will be at least adequate (and not play so badly like Blake that the coaches have to yank him)...

While I hope you are correct I would be shocked if you were. I don't see Tomlin changing it up. And I think the reason Blake's starts is because of Tomlin.

You know what --- I've said that exact thing myself for weeks. I've just got a feeling this week will be different. We saw one very positive development last week which was Boykin playing every snap in the nickel. That hadn't happened until last week. I think it shows some evolution in the way Tomlin and the defensive staff is thinking. We're really not that far away from Cockrell playing the majority of the snaps over Blake...and that folks will be as good as it gets this year.

I don't want Blake to see the field at all but that won't happen.. so since this is the case, I just ask that he not be lined up across from AJ Green.
It's becoming an in game tradition for Green to Blake at least once or twice a game before he is removed from the game.
In a playoff game, we cannot afford any plays like this.

Cockrell or gay must be the guys they choose to play on aj unless they play blakevwith golden over the top Ross you cask him to try jam him at the line and take those little out routes away.
